The Abomination of Desolation and the Sign

I love the things Yahuwah has shown me. I praise His name and glorify the Father for His loving kindness to us in these last days. Some will enjoy this article, finding out many things which have been hidden. Others will pass it by.

In the book of Matthew and Mark, Yahshua is speaking about something which is called the “abomination of desolation”. We are told in scripture that it was also spoken of by Daniel the prophet. We are also told that this abomination shall sit the holy place. The scriptures I am referring to is listed below. What I would like to do is to pull this scripture apart and look at how the words found in it are used, so that we may have a better understanding of what is meant.

The scriptures:

Matthew 24:15-22
15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
17 Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house,
18 and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak.
19 And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days!
20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.
22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

Mark 13:14-20
14 “So when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
15 Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house.
16 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.
17 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
18 And pray that your flight may not be in winter.
19 For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which Elohim created until this time, nor ever shall be.
20 And unless Yahuwah had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

What is an abomination?

When we read Hosea 9, we see Israel gathered likes grapes in the wilderness. Here scripture tells us that the Fathers of Israel would become the firstfruits upon the fig tree which were the best.

But the scripture then tells us something more. It explains that the people of Israel went to worship Baal Peor, and thereby separated themselves from the Father. Yahuwah then tells us that it was this, the worship of other gods, which became the abomination.  He tells us that the people of Israel loved this abomination instead of  Yahuwah.

Hosea 9:10
“I found Israel
Like grapes in the wilderness;
I saw your fathers
As the firstfruits on the fig tree were its best
But they went to Baal Peor,
And separated themselves to that shame with the abomination they loved.”

When we look to the Strongs concordance to see what the word abomination is,  we find the word shiqquwts – H8251

screen-shot-2017-01-31-at-8-03-18-pm

We see this same theme passing through all the scriptures,  where the people leave Yahuwah and instead go off with the harlot which Yahuwah hates. Going off with the harlot means to go off with another lover and deny your first relationship. We see this today in the sense of men and women going off with other people, and sometimes even spending time within the same home of they and their original partner purchased. Think about this as your reading and we will see how that plays out later in this article.

Here are some other uses of the word abomination so we can see how it is used:

Deuteronomy 29:17
17 And ye have seen their abominations, H8251 and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which wereamong them:)

Jeremiah 4:1
1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith Yahuwah, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations H8251 out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.

Jeremiah 7:30
30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith Yahuwah: they have set their abominations H8251 in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

Jeremiah 13:27
27 I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations H8251 on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

Jeremiah 32:34
34 But they set their abominations H8251 in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

Ezekiel 5:11
11 Wherefore, as I live, saith Yahuwah Elohim; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, H8251 and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.

Ezekiel 20:7
Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations H8251 of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I AM Yahuwah Elohim.

In 1 and 2 Kings, we see clearly what was an abomination in the eyes of Yahuwah. It was when one worshiped other gods in place of the Father.

1 Kings 11:5
5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination
H8251 of the Ammonites.

1 Kings 11:7
7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination
H8251 of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination H8251 of the children of Ammon.

2 Kings 23:13
13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination
H8251 of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination H8251 of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

2 Kings 23:24
24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations
H8251 that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of Yahuwah.

In the book of Daniel, the abomination is spoken of in three different scriptures. We are going to be returning to these scriptures multiple times throughout this article as we seek clarity and the meaning of these scriptures shall become clear.

Daniel 9:27
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations H8251 he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel 11:31
31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination H8251 that maketh desolate.

Daniel 12:11
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination H8251 that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

What is a desolation?

What is it that Yahuwah tells us is a desolation so that we may better understand these two sections of scripture?

To be desolate means to be appalled at what one sees. That is, to be stunned or to be stupefied (that is unable to think straight). The English word comes from the original word shamem. We find this in the Strongs concordance as H8074.

screen-shot-2017-01-31-at-8-02-16-pm

The word desolation means to have nothing of value. To be appalled. To be in a state such that you are stunned and cannot make sense of things. To be unable to think straight. To destroy that of value. Here are some examples of it being used within the scriptures:

Leviticus 26:32, 34-35
32 And I will bring H8074 the land into desolation: H8074 and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished H8074 at it.

34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, H8074 and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.
35 As long as it lieth desolate H8074 it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

1 Samiel 5:6
6 But the hand of Yahuwah was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed H8074 them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.

2 Chronicles 36:21
21 To fulfil the word of Yahuwah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate H8074 she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

Isaiah 42:14
14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy H8074 and devour at once.

N.B – Isaiah 42:14 also repeats that which we see again in Revelation 12:1-2, with the woman in travail.

What is an Abomination of Desolation then?

Let us look again at these two words in context and then look at the meanings we have learned about this far.

Matthew 24:15
15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place let the reader understand)”

Thus far we understand that the Abomination of Desolation:

  1. Is not of the Father.
  2. It causes people to worship another besides the Father
  3. It causes those who worship another to become blind and unable to think straight.
  4. It causes them to be devastated.

This explains why it was said “Let the reader understand” as the people who need to understand this scripture shall be fooled by another and shall not even see that they are not worshipping the Father, but instead are following another.

Then what is the holy place spoke of in Matthew and Mark?

Matthew 24:15
15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place let the reader understand)”

Some people say that the temple was the holy place and that I would agree with. It was. But is that the holy place now? We know the man-made temple was destroyed, so where do we find the holy place today? Could it be the church? Or could it be the temple which was destroyed meaning it needs to be rebuilt? I have heard these proposals before, and instead, I prefer to look to His word to see what He tells us the temple is.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17
16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are Elohim’s temple and that Elohim’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
17 If anyone destroys Elohim’s temple, Elohim will destroy that person; for Elohim’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Ruach haKodesh, who is in you, whom you have received from Elohim? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honour Elohim with your bodies.

2 Corinthians 6:16a
16a What agreement is there between the temple of Yahuwah and idols? For we are the temple of the living Elohim;

Ephesians 2:19-22
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are [members] of Elohim’s household,
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Yahshua haMaschiach Himself as the [chief] Cornerstone,
21 in whom the whole structure is joined together, and it continues [to increase] growing into a holy temple in Yahuwah.
22 In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of Elohim in the Spirit.

The temple He speaks of is our body. The temple is within each and everyone. Each person is a part of this temple.

So when we see Matthew saying “ when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place ” it is saying that the people are following another god, not worshipping Him causing them to be desolate in their spirit such that the Father no longer dwells with them.

Many might say, “Well that is how it is today. Shouldn’t the tribulation have started them?” But as we shall see later there is another sign when tells us when these things shall start and this sign we are to look for.

This time is nearing, so surely now we should be able to see what it is which causes desolation. After all, we read in Daniel 12 that the words are sealed until the end of time.

Daniel 12:9-10
9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

So what does Daniel show us about this Abomination of Desolation?

In Matthew and Mark, we are referred back to Daniel so that we might understand what it is which causes the abomination of desolation. That is, what it is which causes the people to worship another to be found in this desolate state and they would not even see it. It is the temple of their bodies which has become defiled, such that many cannot see.

Think of driving along a road, and your windscreen becomes dirty. It will get to a stage where you cannot be certain where you are going. Your view is obscured because of this view. It is obscured.

We just looked at Daniel 12:9-10. I wanted to look at the very next verse as it contains something which many never actually see. When we read Daniel 12:11, from most scriptures we read it as follows:

Daniel 12:11
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Have you ever noticed the word sacrifice is in italics?  We see the same thing in Daniel 11:31 as well. But when we read Daniel 9:27 it is not in italics. Daniel 9:27 is something we will return to later in this article.

When you find a word in scripture that is written in italics it means that that word (or words) are not actually found in the original scripture, but instead, they have been added.

Words are normally added to make sense of the original scripture in English. But in certain situations, this causes problems as it changes the meaning of the original scripture to the point of it becoming misleading.

In Daniel 9:27 the word sacrifice is there, and as we shall see, it should be there. But in both Daniel 12:11 and Daniel 11:31 the word does not exist here and should not be added.

For a moment we shall remove the English words which have been added and see what the scripture says.

Daniel 12:11
11 And from the time the daily shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up. A thousand two hundred and ninety days.

So have you considered what is the daily? In scripture, we find that the word daily comes from the word “Yowm”. An example of this is found in Psalms 68.

Psalm 68:19
Blessed be Yahuwah,
who daily (yowm) bears us up;
Elohim is our salvation. Selah

Daily comes from Strongs H3117.

screen-shot-2017-02-04-at-10-11-40-pm

So you might be wondering why we are looking at this? In Daniel 12:11 the word used here is not yowm. That is, it is not the word daily. The word used here in Daniel 12:11 is “tamyid”, which meaning is different to yowm.

screen-shot-2017-01-31-at-9-15-41-pm

So why is this important? Let me show you something which Ellen White wrote about this exact verse….

I have seen that the 1843 chart was directed by the hand of the Lord, and that it should not be altered; that the figures were as He wanted them; that His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until His hand was removed.

Interesting as we have just been speaking of how people cannot see through a dirty windscreen. She continues….

Then I saw in relation to the “daily” (Daniel 8:12) that the word “sacrifice” was supplied by man’s wisdom, and does not belong to the text, and that the Lord gave the correct view of it to those who gave the judgment hour cry.

When union existed, before 1844, nearly all were united on the correct view of the “daily”; but in the confusion since 1844, other views have been embraced, and darkness and confusion have followed.

The word which should be used here is “continual”. That is something which is ongoing without a break. So let’s read that scripture again.

Daniel 12:11
11 And from the time the continual shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up. A thousand two hundred and ninety days.

So now we are starting to get somewhere with this scripture. I have spent some time looking through the Strongs concordance at all the words in this verse as it is important to understand exactly what is being said.  I have linked each word translated to the Strongs concordance so that the reader may verify what is written. Here is the result:

Daniel 12:11
11 And the time that the continual shall come to and end, that detestable thing which stuns, stupefies and makes desolate which is delivered up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

The scripture quoted above has come from looking at each word in the Strongs concordance and writing out the meaning of the scripture that way. I would encourage each and every person reading this to click on each word linked above, to verify that what is written is true and correct.

It is interesting how we have been talking about the people being blind, and here we see desolation, which is causing the people to be stunned and stupid.

So what is this “continual”?

Many people are not going to see this. Scripture tells us that the majority are blind. But He also tells us that if we seek Him, our eyes shall be opened. I pray you seek Him on this subject.

What is this continual and why is it causing the people to become desolate? The answer to this question is also found in Daniel. In particular, the answer to this question is found in Daniel 8:11-13. Let’s start by looking at these scriptures as we see them quoted today:

Daniel 8:11-13
11
He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down.
12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.
13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, “How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?”

In these scriptures again we find words added. Let us start by removing the words which have been added into the scriptures so we have just the words which were there. We shall also replace the word daily, with the original word continual.

Then we shall look at each of the words we are provided in the text and translate them one at a time so you can see for yourself the meaning of this scripture.

In  Daniel 8:11 we find the following words. (The Strongs concordance definitions are added beside them)

gadal – H1431 – to grow, become great or important, promote, make powerful, praise, magnify, do great things
sar – H8269 – prince, ruler, leader, chief, chieftain, official, captain
tsaba’ – H6635 – that which goes forth, army, war, warfare, host, of sun, moon, and stars
tamiyd – H8548 – continuity, perpetuity, to stretch, continually, continuously
ruwm – H7311 – to rise, rise up, be high, be lofty, be exalted, to magnify oneself
ruwm – H7311 – to rise, rise up, be high, be lofty, be exalted, to magnify oneself
makown – H4349 – fixed or established place, a foundation
miqdash – H4720 – a sacred place, sanctuary, holy place
shalak – H7993 – to throw, cast, throw away, cast off, shed, cast down

So Daniel 8:11 says:

Daniel 8:11
11 And making himself of importance H1431  against the Ruler of rulers H8269 of the sun moon and stars H6635 , the continuously without interruption H8548  was lifted up, exalted and magnified H7311 H7311 and fixed in place H4349  and the holy place H4720 was cast down H7993.

The words used in Daniel 8:12 are:

tsaba’ – H6635 – that which goes forth, army, war, warfare, host, of sun, moon, and stars
nathan – H5414 – to give, put, set, to be given, be bestowed, be given up, be delivered up
tamiyd – H8548 – continuity, perpetuity, to stretch, continually, continuously
pesha’ – H6588 – transgression, rebellion
shalak – H7993 – to throw, cast away, throw away, cast off, shed, cast down
‘emeth – H571 – firmness, faithfulness, truth
‘erets – H776 – land, earth, ground, surface of the earth
‘asah – H6213 – to do, fashion, accomplish, make, to bring about, to attend to, put in order
tsalach – H6743 – to advance, prosper, make progress, succeed, be profitable

So Daniel 8:12 says:

Daniel 8:12
12 And the Sun Moon and the stars H6635 were delivered up and given H5414 to the continuously without interruption H8548 as a transgression against Yahuwah H6588 which cast away H7993 the truth H571 to the ground H776 which bought about H6213 prosperity and success  H6743 (for the little horn).

The words used in Daniel 8:13 are:

shama – H8085 – to hear, listen to, obey, to hear (perceive by ear)
‘echad – H259 – one (number), a certain, each, every
qadowsh – H6918 – sacred, holy, Holy One, saint, set apart
dabar – H1696 – to speak, declare, converse, command, promise, warn, threaten, sing
‘echad – H259 – one (number), a certain, each, every
qadowsh – H6918 – sacred, holy, Holy One, saint, set apart
‘amar – H559 – to say, speak, utter
palmowniy – H6422 – a certain one
dabar – H1696  – to speak, declare, converse, command, promise, warn, threaten, sing
chazown – H2377 – vision
tamiyd – H8548 – continuity, perpetuity, to stretch, continually, continuously
pesha’ – H6588 – transgression, rebellion
shamem – H8074 – to be desolate, be appalled, stun, stupefy
nathan – H5414 – to give, put, set, to be given, be bestowed, be given up, be delivered up
quodesh – H6944 – apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness
tsaba’ – H6635 – that which goes forth, army, war, warfare, host, of sun, moon, and stars
mirmac – H4823 – trampling place, trampling

So Daniel 8:13 says:

13  Then I heard H8085 a certain H259 Holy One H6918 speaking  H1696 to a certain H259 Holy One H6918 who spoke H559 to that certain one H6422 which spoke H1696 “(Until when) the vision H2377 of the continuously (without interruption) H8548  transgression H6588 which stuns, stupefies and makes desolate H8074 will be permitted H5414 to be set apart (from Yahuwah) H6944 such that the Sun, moon and stars H6635 are trodden upon?  H4823

So think for a moment. What is it we have today which is continuous, which goes against the sun, the moon and the stars, which has become a transgression and has made the people blind such that they cannot see the truth? To answer this we shall go back to Genesis 1:14 to see what the purpose of the sun, the moon and the stars was.

The purpose of the sun, the moon and the stars

In Genesis 1 we read the following:

Genesis 1:14
14 And Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.

Looking at this many would say that the lights in the heavens, that is, the sun, the moon and the stars were to provide us with signs, seasons, days and years. Something interesting I found as I studied this scripture was that the word we see here as seasons, does not relay the true meaning of the word to us today in English.

You see the word seasons comes from the word “mow’ed.” Here is what that word means as defined in the Strongs concordance:

mow’ed – H4150 – an appointed place, an appointed time, a meeting time

Putting that back into the verse we now see more clearly:

Genesis 1:14
14 And Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs for appointed times, and for days, and years:

Suddenly we see that the sun, the moon and the stars were to be used as a sign or a signal of when His appointed times were to be. The veil is starting to be removed.

So back in Daniel 8 we were reading that the sun, moon and stars were thrown to the ground and in it’s place was something which is called continuous. There is only one thing which is continuous and goes against the sun, the moon and the stars that He provided us to determine His appointed times. It is the calendar itself. The calendar we use today has a continual cyle of weeks and these weeks are without interruption.

Haven’t you ever heard when people refer to the week, they refer to it as continuous?

Daniel 8:12
12 And the Sun Moon and the stars H6635 were delivered up and given H5414 to the continuously without interruption (calendar of weeks) H8548 as a transgression against Yahuwah H6588 which cast away H7993 the truth H571 to the ground H776 which bought about H6213 prosperity and success  H6743 (for the little horn).

The Gregorian calendar vs the Scriptural calendar

The Gregorian calendar is a continuous calendar. It has one day after the other and cycles continuously each seven days.

When we look to His word, we see that the calendar in scripture restarted upon every new moon day. We also see that the calendar in scripture never had a man made date line. Instead, the new moon was used, which created the date line.

This is the calendar we find in His word.  Today, however, the calendar we use is different. Gone is the day of the new moon and in its place is a continual cycle of weeks.  In this way, the sun, the moon, and the stars were thrown to the ground which brought about success and prosperity to the beast (Rome) for the people of Yahuwah were no longer following Him.

The Luni-Solar calendar doesn’t match what we see in scripture exactly.

When we look into His word, we find something which has been confusing to many. We see in His word a calendar which is 30 days long. For example, let’s take the time of Noah spoken in the same chapter of Matthew that we have been looking at – Matthew 24.

Matthew 24:37
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

We see this also in Luke 17

Luke 17:26
And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man.

Many look at this scripture and speak simply of the way in which man was behaving. But let me share something with you that the Father shared with me. There is something here many do not see. Let’s take a look at how time was structured in the days of Noah as that is where the scripture points us to:

Genesis 7:11-12, 24
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, on that same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened.
12 It rained on the earth for forty days and forty nights.
….
24 The waters covered [all of] the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:4
4 On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

So from the seventeenth day of the second month to the seventeenth day of the seventh month, there were one hundred and fifty days. The number of months equals 7 – 2 = 5 months. 150 days divided by 5 months = 30 days each month.

If the number of days in the month were 30 days, then is that what we see also in Revelation concerning the time spoken of in Matthew?

Revelation 11:2-3
But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.
And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

Revelation 12:6,14
Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
….
14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

Revelation 13:5
And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.

In these scriptures, we learn that 1260 days is described as time, times and half a time, or 42 months.  Here, time = 1 year. Times = 2 x Time = 2 years. Half a Time = 1/2 a year. Together that equal 3 and a half years.

So how many months are in a scriptural year?

42 months  / 3.5 years = 12 months per year.
1260 days / 42 months = 360 days per year.

Interestingly we see this in Revelation 22 as well – a calendar with 12 months.

Revelation 22:1-2
1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of Yahuwah the Lamb.
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

What time frame does Daniel see in his vision as well?

Daniel 7:25
25 He will speak words against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Most High, and he will intend to change the times and the law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, [two] times, and half a time [three and one-half years].

In fact whenever we look to the scriptures we see three things:

  1. A calendar which starts with the new moon.
  2. A calendar which is 360 days long.
  3. A calendar which has 12 months.

So what happened? Why is our calendar different?

The answer to this question is also found in the scriptures. Yahuwah has shown us all we need to understand, but we do need to seek the answers.

In early civilizations, the calendar we see being used was 360 days long. This calendar seems to have functioned well until sometime in the 8th century when there appears to have been a change.

The 8th century was the time between 799BC – 700BC. Books which were written in the scriptures around this time were 2nd Kings, Amos, Hosea, Micah, and Isaiah. In 2 Kings 20 we see King Hezekiah near death:

2 Kings 20:1-3
1 In those days [when Sennacherib first invaded Judah] Hezekiah became deathly ill. The prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not recover.’”
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to Yahuwah, saying,
3 “Please, Yahuwah, remember now how I have walked before You in faithfulness and truth and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

We then see something Yahuwah telling Isaiah to go back to Hezekiah, for He was going to add fifteen years to his life.

2 Kings 20:4-7
4 Before Isaiah had gone out of the middle courtyard, the word of Yahuwah came to him, saying,

5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says Yahuwah, the Elohim of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I am healing you; on the third day you shall go up to the house of Yahuwah.
6 I will add fifteen years to your life and save you and this city [Jerusalem] from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will protect this city for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.”’”
7 Then Isaiah said, “Bring a cake of figs. And they brought it and placed it on the [painful] inflammation, and he recovered.”

And this is where we see time changed in His word.

2 Kings 20:8-11
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What will be the sign that Yahuwah will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of Yahuwah on the third day?”

9 Isaiah said, “This will be the sign to you from Yahuwah, that He will do the thing that He has spoken: shall the shadow [indicating the time of day] go forward ten steps, or go backward ten steps?”
10 Hezekiah answered, “It is easy for the shadow to go forward ten steps; no, but let the shadow turn backward ten steps.”
11 So Isaiah the prophet called out to Yahuwah, and He brought the shadow on the steps ten steps backward by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.

This we also see reflected in Isaiah 38:

Isaiah 38:4-8
4 And the word of Yahuwah came to Isaiah, saying,
5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says Yahuwah, the Elohim of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.
6 I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.”’
7 And this is the sign to you from Yahuwah, that Yahuwah will do this thing which He has spoken:
8 “Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward.” So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down.

How did this affect the calendar?

By turning the shadow backward on the stairs ten steps, the length of the day was increased. Because of the information provided in the scriptures we are able to work out roughly how much time this added to a day and apply that to a year.

In a full day, we have 24 hours with each hour having 60 minutes. But in the hours of daylight, we have approximately half this amount, around 12 hours.

The number of degrees in one-hour equals:

  1. A 360-degree circle (on a sundial) divided by 12 hours of sunlight (average day)
    = 30 degrees per hour.

The number of minutes in 10 degrees is 1/3 of 30

  1. 1/3rd of 30 degrees is 10 degrees.
  2. 1/3rd of an hour (60 minutes) equals 20 minutes.
  3. 10 degrees would therefore, equal 20 minutes.

In the days of Hezekiah, it is believed that the sundial was a series of stairs that had two sides which stepped up towards each other and met in the middle. We cannot be certain how many steps there were, but if there were 360 steps, the 20 minutes would be accurate. 360 steps could not only tell you the time of day but also tell you the day of the year.

So now we know that there were an extra 20 minutes added per day. How does this affect the length of a 360 day year?

  1. 20 minutes per day x 360 days = 7200 extra minutes per year.
  2. 7200 extra minutes per year / 60 minutes in an hour = 120 hours per year.
  3. 120 extra hours per year / 24 hours in a day = 5 days per year.

The length of a year went from 360 days to 365 days. Looking at what we see in the 8th century BC, we tend to find either a year with 365 days (solar), a year with 354 days (lunar) or both.

What other proof do we have today that a 360 day calendar used to exist?

Looking at a solar year length and a lunar year length the proof is sitting right in front of us.

The lunar year length became shorter from 360 days to 354.37 days long. The solar year became longer from 360 days to 365.24 day long. Take the lunar year and add it to the solar year. The divide it in two to see how long the luni-solar year still is.

354.37 lunar
+ 365.24 solar
————-
= 719.61 or 720 luni-solar days.

720 luni-solar days / 2 years (as this is the number if years we added together)
= 360 Luni-solar days.

Why would the Father do this?

Why would the Father change the way in which we determined time? What was it that the Father was wanting to effect?

Scripture tells us the reason why the scale in which time was measured was changed in both Lamentations 2 and Hosea 2. In Hosea 2:1-13 we read of how Yahuwah says that Israel is no longer His wife and He is no longer her husband. He tells us that this is the result of her playing the harlot with others (that is with other gods).

Remember at the beginning of this article when we spoke of a married couple and one partner went off with another person and spent time in their house? The house here are the appointed times the Father gave us to spend with Him. Because the people have played the harlot the Father removes the appointed times from them. That is, He removed the place where He dwells such that it cannot be defiled any longer.

When a divorce takes place, this is one of the first things we see occur. One partner removes their belongings and moves to another place where the original partner cannot find them. The two no longer live together.

So how did the Father do this? We just saw how in the days of King Hezekiah. The length of the year was changed such that the people would become confused. The days they knew would not align with the calendar they had been using. This way the Fathers appointed times would no longer be used to worship another and would be kept sacred for Him.

It is worthwhile reading the entire chapters of Hosea 2 and Lamentations 2, to see this in full, but here I will just add one section from each scripture which shows Yahuwah removing the appointed times from Israel.

Hosea 2:11
11 “I will also put an end to all her rejoicing,
Her feasts, her New Moons, her Sabbaths,
All her appointed times.
….
13  “And I will punish her for the [appointed time] days of the Baals,
When she used to offer sacrifices and burn incense to them
And adorn herself with her earrings and nose rings and her jewelry,
And follow her lovers, so that she forgot Me,” says Yahuwah.

We see the same thing in Lamentations 2:6

Lamentations 2:6
6 And He has violently broken down His temple like a garden hedge;
He has destroyed His appointed meeting place.
Yahuwah has caused the appointed times and the Sabbaths
To be forgotten in Zion
And has despised and rejected the king and the priest
In the indignation of His anger.

The Father removed the appointed times of Israel because they were using these times to worship other gods and thereby were abusing His appointed times.

A time of restoration is promised.

So the Father has told us that He removed the appointed times from Israel. That is what we see on the Gregorian calendar we use today. A year which is no longer tied to the appointed times of the Father. The people have gone astray and Yahuwah has let them walk as they wanted.

But He promises a time of restoration which must occur for the things we see in scripture to take place.

Interestingly, right after we see the appointed times of Israel being removed in Hosea 2, we see the appointed times of Israel being restored. In Hosea 2:14 we see the same woman spoken of in Revelation 12, the one who is taken to the wilderness. We see Yahuwah bringing forth great things from the ground to feed His people and we see the people stop calling Him my Lord (Baal) and instead they start calling Him their husband.

Hosea 2:14-23
14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure Israel, and bring her into the wilderness,
And I will speak tenderly to her [to reconcile her to Me].
15  “Then I will give her her vineyards from there,
And make the Valley of Achor a door of hope and expectation [anticipating the time when I will restore My favor on her].
And she will sing there and respond as in the days of her youth
As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.
16  “It shall come about in that day,” says Yahuwah
“That you will call Me Ishi (my husband)
And will no longer call Me Baali (my Lord).
17  “For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth (Lord, Jesus, Christ)
So that they will no longer be mentioned or remembered by their names.
18  “And in that day I will make a covenant for Israel
With the animals of the open country
And with the birds of the heavens
And with the creeping things of the ground.
And I will abolish the bow and the sword and [banish] war from the land
And will make them lie down in safety.
19  “And I will betroth you (Israel) to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice,
In lovingkindness and loyalty, and in compassion.
20  “I will betroth you to Me in stability and in faithfulness.
Then you will know (recognize, appreciate) Yahuwah.
21  “It will come about in that day that I will respond,” says Yahuwah.
“I will respond to the heavens [which ask for rain to pour on the earth], and they will respond to the earth [which begs for the rain],
22  And the earth shall respond to the grain and the new wine and the oil [which beg it to bring them forth],
And they will respond to Jezreel [My Israel, who will now be restored].
23  “I will sow her for Myself in the land.
I will also have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy;
And I will say to those who were not My people,
‘You are My people,’
And they will say, ‘You are my Elohim!’”

So when is the appointed time of restoration?

We see that in Revelation and Daniel the days are working again by the scriptural calendar which is 360 days long. So when is it that the Father tells us that the appointed times, His appointed calendar, the same one He removed from us, shall be restored?

Again. He tells us in His word.

We see the people of Yahuwah being protected during the tribulation in Revelation 12. We see a sign spoken of in Revelation 12. A sign is something one sees as a warning before the event.

Interestingly there was a sign which appeared in the heavens upon the Gregorian date of the 23rd of September 2017, which seems to align with the sign we read about in Revelation 12:1-4. Here is a video I did on the subject.

The sign speaks of things to come. When exactly  these things shall start, we cannot be certain as yet however.

What other things are we told shall occur at this time?

In Isaiah 58 we see three things occurring.

  1. The Appointed time of Trumpets
  2. The Appointed time of Atonement
  3. The people going forth to proclaim His true appointed times, as the time of restoration has arrived.

The Appointed time of Trumpets

Isaiah 58:1 speaks of the trumpets being blown. It tells us the time when these things shall commence:

Isaiah 58:1
1 “Cry aloud, spare not;
Lift up your voice like a trumpet; (The appointed time if trumpets)
Tell My people their transgression,
And the house of Jacob their sins.  (The time to tell people their transgression and sins)

Remember Daniel 8:12-13? It tells us what the transgression is. This is one of the things which the people shall be told.

Daniel 8:12-13
12 And the Sun Moon and the stars were delivered up and given to the continuously without interruption as a transgression against Yahuwah which cast away the truth to the ground which bought about prosperity and success (for the little horn).

13  Then I heard a certain Holy One speaking to another Holy One who said to that certain one which spoke “(Until when) the vision of the continuously (without interruption) transgression which stuns, stupefies and makes desolate will be permitted to be set apart (from Yahuwah) such that the Sun, moon and stars are trodden upon?

The Appointed Day of Atonement

The next thing we see is the Day of Atonement. If the people are to know when this day is, they are going to have to know His calendar and how it works. They are going to need to be able to tell His appointed times by looking at the signs He gives us. They are going to have to have His calendar restored by this time.

The Day of Atonement in scripture tells us many things about what was to occur on that day,  what occurred to those who did not observe it and how the people were not doing what Yahuwah wanted them to do on this day.

For a moment we shall go back to the Day of Atonement spoken of in Leviticus 16 so we can see what the day was about. Here we see Aaron placing the Holy clothes upon his body and washing so he was clean.

We then see Aaron collecting two goats. One goat was to be killed, and the other goat was to be sent into the wilderness. Interestingly the word scapegoat means “a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others.” We see this scapegoat again in Revelation 12, but here she is spoken of as a woman. Here the woman is persecuted and sent into the wilderness.

Revelation 12:13-14
13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

In Leviticus 16 we see then a bull being killed and making atonement for himself and the other priests.  Then we see something which is reflected in Revelation 8. Let’s look at what Leviticus 16:12-13 says:

Leviticus 16:12-13
12 He shall take a censer full of burning coals from the [bronze] altar before Yahuwah, and two handfuls of finely ground sweet incense, and bring it inside the veil [into the Most Holy Place],

13 and put the incense on the fire [in the censer] before Yahuwah, so that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on [the ark of] the Testimony, otherwise he will die.

This is what we see taking place in Revelation 8 as well, right before the trumpets start to blast. Here we see the day of atonement and the prayers of the saints going up before Yahuwah.

Revelation 8:1-6
1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before Yahuwah, and to them were given seven trumpets.
3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before Yahuwah from the angel’s hand.
5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

Right after this, the censer which was filled with fire is thrown to the earth. The result of this is the first trumpet with hail and fire being thrown to the earth. The first trumpet has blood mingled with it meaning some people die from this. This occurs after the Day of Atonement has completed.

Continuing in Leviticus 16 we see the goat being killed and its blood being sprinkled upon the mercy seat and in front of it.

Leviticus 16:15
15 “Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for [the sins of] the people and bring its blood within the veil [into the Most Holy Place] and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat.

This was the blood of the son being sprinkled upon the mercy seat. Then in verse 21 we see Aaron laying his hands upon the head of the second goat  (the scapegoat) and confessing the wickedness and transgressions upon this goat and then it being led into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is prepared for the task. This second goat is the woman at the end of Revelation 12. The woman like the goat is innocent.

What will occur to those who do not observe this Day of Atonement?

In Leviticus 23, we see when the Day of Atonement is, and what was to occur. We see what was to occur to those who would not observe it.

The scripture speaks again of the people making an offering by fire. This was done with the censer, and the smoke which ascended represented the prayers of the people.

We are then told that upon this day there is no work to be done. We are told this is the day put aside for Yahuwah to make an atonement for His people and that those who do not observe the day shall be cut off from the people. Those who work upon this day shall be destroyed.

That is exactly what we just saw in Revelation 8 with the censer being thrown to the earth with fire and blood.

Leviticus 23:26-32
26 Yahuwah spoke to Moses, saying,
27 “Also the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble yourselves and present an offering by fire to Yahuwah.
28 You shall not do any work on this same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before Yahuwah Elohim.
29 If there is any person who will not humble himself on this same day, he shall be cut off from his people [excluding him from the atonement made for them].
30 If there is any person who does any work on this same day, I will destroy that person from among his people.
31 You shall do no work at all [on that day]. It is a permanent statute throughout your generations wherever you may be.

32 It is to be to you a Sabbath of complete rest, and you shall humble yourselves. On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening you shall keep your Sabbath.”

How should we observe the Day of Atonement?

When we view Isaiah 58 we see that the people were not using the Day of Atonement as the Father wanted us to. Instead, the people were using it to fast upon and to afflict their souls. The Father did not want this but rather wanted us to loose the bonds of wickedness and to undo the heavy burdens,  to let the oppressed go free,  to share the bread with the hungry,  or to bring in those who were cast out and to cover the naked. This was what the Father wanted. A time of freedom and love which is represented in the sacrifice made for us.

Isaiah 58:6-7
6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
7  Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

What occurs after the Day of Atonement? – A time of Restoration

Scripture then tells us what shall occur after the day of atonement. And for this to occur the appointed times must be restored in full.

Isaiah 58:12
12 Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Just like what we saw in Daniel, where the people had transgressed against Yahuwah, we see the people of Yahuwah now being able to restore His calendar in full and let people know that Yahuwah loves them all.

Isaiah 58:13-14
13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,

And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of Yahuwah honourable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in Yahuwah;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of Yahuwah has spoken.”

His people shall start to restore His calendar.

So when is the time He returns?

Scripture tells us the following in Matthew 24:

Matthew 24:36
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

But at the same time, the Father speaks of the Appointed time of Harvest. Some may not be aware that the Appointed time of Harvest is what many see written in their scriptures as Pentecost. The appointed time of harvest is spoken of in the following scriptures:

Exodus 23:14-16
14 “Three times you shall keep an appointed time to Me in the year:
15 You shall keep the Appointed time of Unleavened Bread. You shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty;
16 and the Appointed time of Harvest (Pentecost), the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Appointed time of Ingathering (booths) at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field.

And we also see it mentioned in Deuteronomy 16

Deuteronomy 16:16-17
16 “Three times a year all your males shall appear before Yahuwah Elohim in the place which He chooses: at the appointed time of Unleavened Bread, at the Appointed time of Harvest (Weeks or Pentecost), and at the Appointed time of Tabernacles (Booths or Ingathering); and they shall not appear before Yahuwah empty-handed.
17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of Yahuwah Elohim which He has given you.

We see the Appointed time of Harvest described as a time of gathering in the following scriptures:

Jeremiah 51:33
33 For thus says Yahuwah of hosts, the Elohim of Israel:
“The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor

When it is time to thresh her;
Yet a little while
And the time of her harvest will come.”

Joel 3:13
13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow— For their wickedness is great.”

Hosea 6:11
11 For you also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed, when I restore the fortunes of my people.

In Matthew 13 we find scripture which speaks of a field of wheat. In scripture Barley was the first harvest and wheat was the second harvest. Here bad seed is scattered among the Wheat and it is allowed to grow.

The tares are to be burnt with fire (which is what we see from the first trumpet) and the wheat was to be gathered into the barn.

Matthew 13:24-29
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;
25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.
27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’
28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’
29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
…..
36 Then Yahushua sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”

37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.
39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.
41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Mark 4:26-29
26 And He said, “The kingdom of Yahuwah is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground,
27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.
28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.
29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

In Luke 10 we see the harvest to take place and how great a job it is, but we also see that the laborers are few.

Luke 10:1-2
1 After these things Yahushua appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.
2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray Yahuwh of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

John 4:34-38
34 Yahushua said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’
38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

Revelation 14:14-16
14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

So why does Matthew say that know one knows the day nor the hour in Matthew 24:36?

Remember how we saw Israel loose the appointed times of Yahuwah, such that they could not find their way?

The calendar of Yahuwah cannot be seen at the moment. None can see it. It is hidden. So no one can tell you when that day shall be. But all can see the name of the day, for it is the Appointed time of Harvest.  When that day shall fall we cannot know for certain as the calendar needs to be restored.

So what about Daniel 9:27? What does this mean?

In Daniel, we have the same time span spoken of – 1260 days or 3.5 years. Right before this time is even mentioned, however, we see something interesting. It says that he will attempt to change the times and the law. Then we see the last three and a half years.

Daniel 12 speaks of this time frame:

Daniel 12:7
7 And I heard the man clothed in white linen who was above  the waters of the river,  as he raised up his right hand and his left hand to the visible heavens and swear by him that liveth forever that it shall be appointed for a time,  times, and a half. Completion shall shatter the hand of the set apart peoples to accomplish and end.

So we can understand the the time of trouble is to be 1260 days long. In this verse, the word “sacrifice” is actually written there. It was to be a part of this scripture. When we read it it makes sense as to why it should be seen here as well.

Daniel 9:27
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The word we see written as “week” is quite literally translated as a period of seven.  It comes from the following:

shabuwa’ – H7620 – seven, period of seven, heptad, week

Whilst the translators interpreted it as a week, it should be translated as a period of seven. Why? When you look at 7 years in terms of days, you get 2520 days. Half of this is 1260 days. This prophecy ends in the midst of the 7 years. That is 3 and a half years into it or after 1260 days.

Many other translations have this listed in their scriptures as well:

Daniel 9:27 – Amplified version
And he will enter into a binding and irrevocable covenant with the many for one week (seven years), but in the middle of the week (seven years) he will stop the sacrifice and grain offering [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until the complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who causes the horror.”

Daniel 9:27 – Amplified version, Classic Edition.
And he shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many for one week [seven years]. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and upon the wing or pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate, until the full determined end is poured out on the desolator.

Danile 9:27 – International Childrens Bible
That leader will make an agreement with many people for 7 years. He will put a stop to offerings and sacrifices after 3½ years. And the horrible thing that destroys will be placed on the highest point of the Temple. But Elohim has ordered him to be destroyed!”

Daniel 9:27 – The Living Bible
This king will make a seven-year treaty with the people, but after half that time, he will break his pledge and stop the Jews from all their sacrifices and their offerings; then, as a climax to all his terrible deeds, the Enemy shall utterly defile the sanctuary of God. But in Elohim’s time and plan, his judgment will be poured out upon this Evil One.”

Daniel 9:27 – Names of God Bible
He will confirm his promise with many for one set of seven time periods. In the middle of the seven time periods, he will stop the sacrifices and food offerings. This will happen along with disgusting things that cause destruction until those time periods come to an end. It has been determined that this will happen to those who destroy the city.”
Daniel 9:27 – New Century Version
That leader will make firm an agreement with many people for seven years. He will stop the offerings and sacrifices after three and one-half years. A destroyer will do blasphemous things until the ordered end comes to the destroyed city.”

This ties in with what we see occurring in the temple at the time of Yahshua’s crucifixion where the veil in the temple was torn in two, meaning that there was no more sacrifice to be given.

Matthew 27:50-51
50 And Yahshua cried again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit.
51 And at once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split.

And again with what we see in 1 Corinthians 5

1 Corinthians 5:7
7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new batch, just as you are, still unleavened. For Yahushua our Passover Lamb has been sacrificed.

And we see in Hebrews 10 that the Yahshua offered a single sacrifice for sin forever.

Hebrews 10:8-14
8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them”,
9 Then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O Elohim. He takes away the first (covenant) that He may establish the second (covenant).
10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Yahushua haMaschiach once for all.
11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But this Man (Yahshua), after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of Elohim,
13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

So what does the last part of Daniel 9:27 mean? Let’s look at something said in Isaiah 14 first.

Isaiah 14:12-14
12 “How you have fallen from heaven,
O star of the morning [light-bringer], son of the dawn!
You have been cut down to the ground,
You who have weakened the nations [king of Babylon]!
13  “But you said in your heart,
‘I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of Elohim;
I will sit on the mount of assembly
In the remote parts of the north.
14  ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.’

Here the word assembly comes from the word mow’ed. As we saw before in this study the word mow’ed in English might best be translated as appointed times.

mow’ed – H4150 – an appointed place, an appointed time, a meeting time

Here Satan is saying he is going to sit upon the mount – that is the the top – of all the appointed times. The calendar of Yahuwah. And this is what he has done.

So looking at the rest of Daniel 9:27 using the translations we have just looked at we see:

ICBAnd the horrible thing that destroys will be placed on the highest point of the Temple. But Elohim has ordered him to be destroyed!”

LVBThen, as a climax to all his terrible deeds, the Enemy shall utterly defile the sanctuary of Elohim. But in Elohim’s time and plan, his judgment will be poured out upon this Evil One.”

AMPC – And upon the wing or pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate, until the full determined end is poured out on the desolator.

Satan will sit upon the appointed times of Yahuwah, bringing desolation (which we have learned is following another by not using Yahuwah’s appointed times).  This prophecy ends telling us that until the time when Yahuwah has predetermined, Satan will continue.

Daniel 12 says

Daniel 12:7
7 And I heard the man clothed in white linen who was above  the waters of the river,  as he raised up his right hand and his left hand to the visible heavens and swear by him that liveth forever that it shall be appointed for a time,  times, and a half (three and a half years). Completion shall shatter the hand of the set apart peoples to accomplish and end.

Then after another 30 days, the continual calendar shall come to an end.

Daniel 12:8-11
8 And I heard and did not understand. So I asked, O Yahuwah, what is the end of this prophetic time?
9 And he said.  “Depart Daniel, for these words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified white and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly and the wicked shall not understand, but the wise shall understand.
11 And the time that the continual (calendar of weeks) shall come to and end, that detestable thing which stuns, stupefies and makes desolate which is delivered up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

So when might we see the restoration of time as we see it in His word?

So far we have seen how scripture has a 360-day calendar and we have noted that today we have a 365-day calendar.

Today’s Gregorian calendar is a solar only calendar. That means it uses the sun alone. It has no way of resetting the months the way the moon does, and so the months and hence the days are determined using a man made date line instead.

Those who use a 354-day lunar calendar only have their days float backward throughout the year and thus rarely are able to align their appointed time with the harvest times we see in His word.

No matter what we do, we will be unable to rectify this until the time of tribulation begins. That is the last three and a half years starts again.

We see the following in Matthew and  Luke:

Matthew 24:22
22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

Mark 13:20
20 And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

At the start of the tribulation the appointed time of trumpets, we may expect to see this prophecy take place. It will be a big issue for the people. Many will be confused. Many others will see the 360 days spoken of in scripture and declare it a sign from Yahuwah, but then still use a continuous week.

And then there shall be those who are following a lunisolar calendar. Whilst this calendar also is wrong, (in that it adds an extra month every three to four years), it shall come back into alignment at the appointed time of trumpets, when the seventh new moon day occurs. For the moment, it is the closest calendar we have and the one which shall realign itself at the time appointed.

What about the Enoch calendar?

Part of the problem with the book of Enoch may be that additions were added to any original copies. Chapters 37-71 of the Ethiopian copies may have been added to the original after or during the time of Yahshua since no fragments of these chapters were found with any of the Dead Sea Scrolls. There seem to be many similarities between the New Testament books and these chapters, which may indicate that they were written during or after the first century.

Enoch 72 to 82 has some interesting details about the calendar and how they relate to the sun moon and stars. Enoch 72 starts off by telling us the following:

Enoch 72:1
1 The book of the courses of the lights of the shamayim, the relations of each, according to their classes, their dominion and their seasons, according to their names and places of origin, and according to their months, which Uri’ĕl, the qodesh messenger, who was with me, who is their guide, showed me; and he showed me all their laws exactly as they are, and how it is with regard to all the years of the world and unto everlasting, till the new creation is accomplished which endures till everlasting.

So this section of scripture starts by telling us that:

  1. The lights have courses (paths).
  2. The courses (paths) are related to one another. (Like train tracks)
  3. At the same time, each course is separate. (Like separate trains)
  4. The months of each of these paths are separate.(Like carriages upon each train)
  5. There are different classes (e.g. stars vs the moon vs the sun)
  6. They each have their own dominion in which they reign.

The book of Enoch chapters 72 to 82 is speaking of the way in which these three items interact and how together they provide us with the scriptural year. Importantly, the year here is divided into the item it is speaking of at the time.

For example. Enoch 72 speak of a solar year first and tells us the number of days in this year being 364. In this calendar, there are 4 months with 31 days and 8 months of 30 days.

Enoch 72:2, 32
2 And this is the first law of the lights: the light, the Sun has its rising in the eastern portals of the shamayim, and its going down in the western portals of the shamayim.
….
32 On that day the night decreases and amounts to nine parts, and the day to nine parts, and the night is equal to the day and the year is exactly as to its days three hundred and sixty-four.

Enoch 73 speaks of how the moon interacts with the sun.

Enoch 73:1,3
1 And after this law, I saw another law dealing with the smaller light, which is named the moon.
2 And her circumference is like the circumference of the shamayim, and her chariot in which she rides is driven by the wind, and light is given to her in measure.
3 And her rising and going down change every month, and her days are like the days of the sun, and when her light is uniform it amounts to the seventh part of the light of the sun.

Enoch 74 speaks of a monthly law, which sets apart each month in scripture. Doing this it divides the year into exactly 360 days.

Enoch 74:1,10
1 And I saw another course, a law for her, how according to that law she performs her monthly revolution.
…..
10 And if five years (scriptural) are added together the sun has an excess of thirty days, and all the days which increase to it for one of those five years, when they are full, amount to three hundred and sixty-four days (Solar).

Using these details we can show what year is being spoken when it speaks of five years. Below we can see that the year spoken of is the scriptural 360 day year.

Using a Lunar year only
((5 Lunar years x 354 days) – 30 days) / 5 years = 348 lunar days a year – this is not correct.

Using the Enoch solar year only
((5 Solar years x 364 days) – 30 days) / 5 years = 358 lunar days a year -this is not correct

Using the Scriptural year only
((5 Scriptual years x 360 days) – 30 days) / 5 years = 354 lunar days year – Correct

Enoch 74 then shows the solar year:

Enoch 74:13
13 In three years there are one thousand and ninety-two days, and in five years; one thousand, eight hundred and twenty days, so that in eight years there are two thousand, nine hundred and twelve days.

3 solar years = 1092 days or 364 per solar year
5 solar years = 1820 days or 364 days per solar year
8 solar years = 2912 days or 364 days per solar year

And Enoch 74 then shows the lunar year:

Enoch 74:14-15
14 For the moon alone the days amount in three years to one thousand and sixty-two days, and in five years she falls fifty days behind: to the sum there is five to be added and sixty-two days.
15 And in five years there are one thousand, seven hundred and seventy days, so that for the moon the days six in eight years amount to twenty-one thousand, eight hundred and thirty-two days.

3 lunar years = 1062 days or 354 lunar days per year
5 lunar years = 1770 days or 354 lunar days per year
8 lunar years = 2832 days or 354 lunar days per year

Enoch 75 the ensures that the reader understands that the four extra days in the solar year are NOT to be reckoned with the scriptural calendar. It tells us that the appointed times, the days and the years of Yahuwah are to be determined using the sun, the moon and the stars in the heavens (Shamayim).

Enoch 75:1-2
1 And the leaders of the heads of the thousands, who are placed over the whole creation and over all the stars, have also to do with the four intercalary days, being inseparable from their office, according to the reckoning of the (solar) year, and these render service on the four days which are not reckoned in the reckoning of the (scriptural) year.

2 And owing to them men go astray therein, for those lights truly render service on the world-stations, one in the first portal, one in the third portal of the shamayim, one in the fourth portal, and one in the sixth portal, and the ENOCH exactness of the (solar) year is accomplished through its separate three hundred and sixty-four stations

3 For the signs and the times and the years and the days the messenger Uri’ĕl showed to me, whom Yahuwah of esteem has appointed forever over all the lights of the shamayim, in the shamayim and in the world, that they should rule on the face of the shamayim and be seen on the earth, and be leaders for the day and the night: the sun, moon, and stars, and all the ministering beings which make their revolution in all the chariots of the shamayim.

Enoch 78 also tells us that the new moon is the day when the light is seen upon the moon and the full moon is the day when the sun sets in the west and she rises from the east.

Enoch 78:12-13
12 And on the first day she is called the new moon, for on that day the light rises upon her.
13 She becomes full moon exactly on the day when the sun goes down in the west, and from the east she rises at night, and the moon shines the whole night through till the sun rises over against her and the moon is seen over against the sun.

Enoch 78 again speaks of the time period of the moon which we shall see compared in the next chapter the same way.

Enoch 78:15
15 And three months she makes of thirty days, and at her time she makes three months of twenty-nine days each, in which she accomplishes her diminishing in the first period of time, and in the first portal for one hundred and seventy-seven days.

In Enoch 79 we see the same number of days spoken of which are reckoned in terms of weeks alone:

Enoch 79:3a-4
3a And after that there is the beginning of the diminishing,
4 which takes place in the first portal in its season, till one hundred and seventy-seven days are accomplished – reckoned according to weeks – twenty-five and two days.

Now Enoch 80 speaks of something interesting which we shall contrast to something we read in Matthew 24

Matthew 24:22
22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

In Enoch 80 we see something different. In Matthew 24:22 we saw that at the time of restoration the calendar shall be cut short. We discovered that this meant that the day length would be shortened thereby bring the calendar back to a 360 day year.

But here in Enoch, we see something different. And initially, it can be confusing. So let us look at each section as it is spoken of. This section of Enoch is dealing with the period of time from Yahshua’s crucifiction through to the appointed time of trumpets when time is restored.

Enoch 80:2
2
And in the days of the sinners the years shall be shortened,
And their seed shall be tardy on their lands and fields,
And all things on the earth shall alter,
And shall not appear in their time:
And the rain shall be kept back
And the heaven shall withhold (it).

So some might ask, how is that the year is shortened when today we have a 365-day solar year? Hasn’t the year become longer? Actually, it has done the opposite. The calendar of scripture uses the moon to determine the months. There are 12 months in a year and there are 6 months of 29 days and 6 months of 30 days. This gives us 354 days in the year. So those people who were following the year, from one new moon to another (Isaiah 66:23) quite literally found that the year was shortened.

This is why we see in all the things starting to be held back. They are no longer falling at the time the people expected them to, but rather were falling later in the year. They were being withheld.

Enoch 80:3-4
3 And in those times the fruits of the earth shall be backward,
And shall not grow in their time,
And the fruits of the trees shall be withheld in their time.
4 And the moon shall alter her order,
And not appear at her time.

And here we see it is the result of the earth altering its position. The moon no longer appears to those on the earth at the times she was supposed to appear. This is the result of a 29 and 30 day month. In Enoch 80:5 we can confirm that what is going to occur in Matthew 24:22 is a result of the days becoming longer in the past.

Enoch 80:5
5
And in those days the sun shall be seen and he shall journey in the evening on the extremity of the great chariot in the west
And shall shine more brightly than accords with the order of light.

Enoch 80:6-8 tells us that confusion shall set in as the order of the stars is not as it should be and people shall make errors concerning them. And the path of the sun, and the moon and the stars shall be altered. And then the people shall take them and make them gods. This is what we see today in the Gregorian calendar, with the day names and the month names taking the place of the calendar of our creator.

Enoch 80:6-8
6 And many chiefs of the stars shall transgress the order (prescribed).
And these shall alter their orbits and tasks,
And not appear at the seasons prescribed to them.
7 And the whole order of the stars shall be concealed from the sinners,
And the thoughts of those on the earth shall err concerning them,
[And they shall be altered from all their ways],
Yea, they shall err and take them to be gods.
8 And evil shall be multiplied upon them,
And punishment shall come upon them So as to destroy all.’

So this has been a very long article. I pray that it assists others and that even if you do not agree with it all, you may have found some useful information in it, and will take it into consideration.

Yahuwah Bless.

    1. Hello nsizwayahu,

At present I still have 13 months in my calendar, but if the appointed time does indeed turn out to be this Appointed time of trumpets, it shall be no more.

      😉

  3. Hi Robert,
a great insight, a great insight, that only could be accomplished with the help of The Ruach of Truth,Wisdom and Knowledge..can’t wait to learn another study of yours. Best would be an overall study, with all factors in it..how to determine a New year, set up the feasts in Yah’s calendar,,and how to determine a New Moon Day….so it would be an easy and complete study to show His children..with references to deep every Subject,if some like to study more.Great Job Mate!! Shalom, and I prey Jahuwah ‘s blessings over you and your family!!!! Blessings From the Netherlands, Eddy Hage

  4. When Ron Wyatt found the Ark of the Covenant in Jeremiah’s Grottos in the 70s, on one occasion he found the cave cleaned up by the four angels who have been guarding it ever since Jeremiah hid the Ark during the siege of Jerusalem, right before the Exile of Judah. He was allowed to videotape everything but was instructed by the angels to leave the tape behind and keep the location of the ark a secret until the SUNDAY LAW would be in force (mark of the beast law).
    http://www.covenantkeepers.co.uk/last_interview.html

I believe that once Satan has been thrown out of heaven and masquerades as the Messiah, he will establish the Sunday law, persecuting and killing everyone who does not keep it (with the help of all the sun-worshippers found on this planet, who do not worship the God of Israel, be it Muslims, Catholics, some Jewish Sects, Buddhists, Hindus, Freemasons/Illuminati, Satanists… – Deut. 4:19). That would also tie in with your findings that the abomination of desolation has to do with changing appointed times and laws. I believe that the Sabbath, too, is such an appointed time or law and I just hope that the many Christians who still believe in the SUNday as being the new day of rest will not be deceived and worship Satan by “accident”!

  5. A very good study, however, It might help your studies to consider:
History – everything is all about Yahuah’s inheritance Israel.
Isaiah 21, 23, Jeremiah 1-2, Ezekiel 8. Israel had already scattered way before the death of Yahusha

Please note that at the time of Yahusha’s crucifixion there are at least 4 calendars: Julian, Enoch, Lunar and the Egyptian Calendar.

    However,

When we look at the Isles there are some very interesting things happening with The calendar:
    1) what changed in European English calendar in 1582
    2) what changed in 1751 ( what was the actual length of the calendar) & 1752 ( did the calendar change? Were any days added? What calendar was followed?
    3) Now look at How long was the calendar in 1753.
    3) How do the above changes agree with Daniels prophecy? What observation can you see in the calendar? It might help if you start from just the new year 25 March
    4) What nation changed their calendar in Dec 2016.

You said that the earth altered, but when you read Enoch 80 verses2-8 it did not say the earth altered or tilted- it says ‘ and all things on earth shall alter’.

I believe that it as Enoch quite righty quotes due to the ‘perversion of nature and the heavenly bodies due to the sin of men’

  6. Very intriguing study for sure. However, I am a bit confused. I am well aware of Yah’s 360 day calendar and also aware of the sun turning back 10 degrees in Hezekiah’s time. What I am confused about is if Yah caused His appointed times to be forgotten, how did Yeshua know to go into the temple on the sabbath day as was his custom? How did he know the correct day of the feasts? He went up to Jerusalem on the feasts days, as did the people. How could Yeshua fullfill the spring feasts if he was celebrating them on the wrong days? For these reasons, as intriguing as your study is, I have to put it on the back burner until the above mentioned concerns can be dealt with without forcing it.

  7. How did Yeshua keep the appointed times if the sun was turned back 10 degrees in the time of Hezekiah? You stated that the appointed times were thrown off when the sun went back 10 degrees. Does that mean Yeshua was celebrating the feasts on the wrong days, as were the people?

    1. The answer is simple. He did indeed remove the appointed times from the people. However He told us in scripture how to know His appointed times. We know today, that the year is 365.25 days long. We see in scripture the number of days in a year were 360 days. We also see in scripture that the days are going to be returned to 360 days and that there are a group who keep his Sabbaths.

In order to hide His Sabbaths from those who are abusing them, He simply took take away His appointed times from them by changing the year length. They now use a solar only calendar. He however, gave us the Moon to know His appointed times. The sun tells us which day count we are upon.

So using the count from the new moon, you will always know what day His Sabbaths are upon. But following the world, you will not. He tells us in Revelation of a group of people who are following His commandments. One of which is the Sabbath day. You cannot follow a solar calendar, and have the days shortened, and still know which day the Sabbath is upon. However you CAN follow a calendar which uses the sun and the moon, and know, even when the days are shortened, which day the Sabbath is as it is worked out the same way.
