Been a while since I have written. And it has only been because I have not needed to write. But I was asked a question today that I feel needs to be addressed.
So the question I was asked was around easter and easter friday (lower case letters are used here on purpose). I have always known they are not found in the scriptures. It is fascinating as the world uses these terms, easter friday, easter saturday and easter sunday, because both of these words – easter and the day name – are not actually found in the scriptures.
The other thing which is interesting is how they take the word Easter and say it is also called Pascha (Passover) or Resurrection Sunday.

So let me address the first item. The word easter. If it is not in the scriptures why do we use it? At easter people love to buy chocolate eggs and hot cross buns and go camping. But it is interesting that the scriptures never once speak of this. Thats right. These things are nothing more than a man made tradition.
Scripture tells us if three events. Passover. Unleavened Bread and first fruits. During the Passover, the wine, the bread and the washing of the feet is done. We will go over this again later.

I see some friends I know who hate the church with a passion. And to be honest, I really do not blame them. This surprises many I have met as they see me as a religious person to which I need to point out to them, that I am not. A religious person as I see it, is one who follows a man made religon. I do not subscribe to any man made religon. Instead, I simply try my best to follow His word as I can.
My view is that the woman spoken of in Revelation 17 is the roman catholic church. Here are the scriptures which describe her:
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me,
“Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS
OF THE EARTH.6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Yahshua. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
Revelation 17:1-6

But did you notice the woman described as a harlot in verse 5 is also the mother of other harlots?
When one has a son or a daughter they have different characteristics than the parent and also have many similarities. The child comes from the parent, but is different to the parent.
When we read Revelation 18:4 the following:
4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
Revelation 18:4

Now there is always a thread that links the daughters to their mother, but many cannot see it. Part of this is in the calendar they use. The Roman Calendar. Yes. Every single one of them use the exact same calendar, having disposed the calendar we find in the scriptures which goes from one new moon to another new moon and from one Sabbath to another Sabbath.
And it is very simple to prove. The first month started with the first new moon. Now the new moon pays no attention to the man made date line. This is because one is instituted by Yah and the other by man. To work out when the 14th day was of the first new moon, you simply counted fourteen days after it was seen in the evening. That day was the sixth day of the week.
It ALWAYS is the sixth day of the week. New moon day being the first, then six work days and the Sabbath, then six more work days and the moon would be full.
Of note, this means that the people using the calendar He gave us in the sky, will be different to those using the roman calendar. The reason for this is the new moon is rarely seen directly over the international date line. In face some months it could be seen over China first, meaning new moon day that month would start there. The next month it could be seen in the USA first, meaning new moon day would start there. This is different to the roman calendar which does not have a new moon day, nor does it count from the new moon.
Passover, unleavened bread and first fruits are days He gave us to celebrate and to remember!
14 ‘So this day shall be to you a remembrance; and you shall keep it as an appointed time to Yahuwah throughout your generations. You shall keep it as an appointed time by an everlasting ordinance.
Exodus 12:14
So remember what He asked us to remember. Forget the man made traditions
Spot on Rob!
I ‘came out’ of SDAism but I must admit that without them I would not be where I am today. They were an important stepping stone in my journey. They have some amazing teachers, the best of whom is Professor Walter Veith who has an excellent new youTube series titled ‘Whats Up Prof?’ that deals with up to the moment current day issues including CV-19 and Noahide Law. I sincerely hope he comes across to the Calendar of Scripture one day

Hi Rob; I agree with a lot of what you’ve written except ” from one new moon to another new moon”, please check closely. Should be translated “from one new month to another new month” , and not sure if catholic church is mother of all…, maybe Jerusalem.

Hey Jim. The word in Hebrew is Chodesh. Translated it means New Moon. That is where the word month comes from, however the Gregorian calendar has no relationship with the moon. It uses the sun alone, so the original meaning of month – being chodesh – has lost its original meaning.
Kind Regards

Observe the witnesses for the New Moon:
Joh 20:1 And on one of the sabbaths, Miryam from Magdala came to the tomb, in the morning, when it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.
Witness#1 It is not dark in the morning of a waning gibbous moon.
Gen 1:14-16
14 And Elohim said, âLet lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years,
15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth.â And it came to be so.
16 And Elohim made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars.
Witness#3 Out of the 2 great lights that are for signs and appointed times, and for days and years, only the light of a full moon exercises ultimate power over the night.
Be well in heart, being and mind!

I am sure that you know what you were writing about but I have to confess that I am at a loss here, in the dark you might say. You have failed to convey to this reader what it is that you were trying to articulate. If I had to make a wild guess I might say you are inferring that Passover does not occur at the full moon but at the dark moon.
Am I warm?

The Full moon is not the new moon.

To Kev. I think I understand where you are going with this and I have a question, What phase is the moon in ten days after abib? and, the “lesser” light, the moon was it a full moon at creation?

“One of the Sabbaths” is a mistranslation of the Greek “mia Sabbatown” and contradicts the fact that when the women went to see where the Messiah was laid they went home and rested on the Sabbath. This means first (day) of the week. That is the meaning within the context of Scripture.

How readers thou! It rather depends upon ones definition of dark doesn’t it?
