The scriptures speak of the Mystery of Lawlessness in a couple of places. Let’s take a look:
We find the following in 2 Thessalonians.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:5:12
When reading 2 Thessalonians 2:7 We see the scriptures mention the Mystery of Lawlessness. The word we see written in English as “Mystery” comes from the greek word “mysterion” and is a derivative of the greek word “muo” which means to shut the mouth. Mystery is a fair translation of the word into English. The word means something which is hidden or a secret. Something which is not obvious to the understanding of many.
The word we read as lawlessness, comes from the greek word “anomia” and it means “being without”. The outline of the usage of this word refers to people being ignorant or something and violating it as a result. It is interesting that the word anomoly from where this word is also derived, in English is understood as something that deviates from what is expected.
So the Bible is speaking of something which deviates from what is expected causing the people to be without the law because of something which is hidden.
The scripture also says that the people will not receive the Love that our Father has for us, which is the truth, because they love unrighteousness. Being unrighteous essentially is where we do not love the truth, but rather love the lie.
I suppose we need to ask what is this lie that the people believe? Whatever it is, it needs to be convenient and easy to fit into. Not that His commandments are difficult, but that following a crowd is easier because everyone else is doing it.
In Revelation we read of a small group of people. 144,000. Many people have speculated over this number, because they cannot comprehend how it is that this small group of people are the only ones who follow the commandments He gave us. Many believe we are no longer required to keep his commandments (which goes against what we read here) and others believe that the 144,000 is not a literal number.
After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.
Revelation 7:`1-4
12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of Elohim and the faith of Yahshua.
Revelation 14:12
But in Revelation 12 we see here that He tells us that the Satan deceives the WHOLE word.
9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

So there are definitely a group of people that follow His commandments. We also see that at some stage in everyones life, we have all been deceived. But I know for a fact as I meet many people every day that tell me they follow all of His commandments. But I would like to ask how you keep the Sabbath commandment if you do not use the same calendar that the scriptures use, but instead use a man made calendar.
In the Bible, He tells us that His calendar goes from one new moon to another new moon and from one Sabbath to another Sabbath. However the whole world does not use the calendar system. They use one which ignores the new moon.
The new moon was used to set where on earth the day count for that month started. Today we use an international date line which by itself is open to debate. Go and have a look at Samoa and the issues they have had trying to figure out which day is the first and which day is the seventh day since they moved the international date line.
The fact is that we were never told to use this method to know His appointed times, and whatever means Satan can come up with to have you ignore the Sabbaths and follow another calendar, is all he wants. For if he does that, then you are ignoring what God has asked of us.
Some say ” You don’t have to follow His commandments – They were nailed to the cross” – Wrong. The commandments were to be forever. The other laws were to be until He paid the price for our sins upon the cross. It was these laws that were nailed to the cross.
Some say ” The Sabbath is no longer valid. He never mentioned it in the renewed covenant” – Also wrong. We saw Him keeping the Sabbath while He was here with us and His disciples also kept them after he departed and He tells us there is a group of people keeping all His commandments is Revelation.
In the book of Revelation we see an earthquake and we see the earth being struck. Then we see the number of days being shortened, and interestingly, it is done for the sake of the elect…. the ones following His appointed times. We see a year of 360 days.
If you want to know what the mystery of lawlessness is, study his word and look to see what the minority are doing compared to the majority and see if what they are doing lines up with His New Moons, His Sabbaths as well as His appointed times.
