The Sabbath day in scripture

The following video is a result of seven months of study. It took me a fair while to collate all the information I had available and filter it down to a point where I could present it to others. The video covers the things which I have learned over this time, in order that others may learn from it as well.

It is important to note that I would not expect all to agree with everything straight away, as I know it took me some time to research and then to understand what the scriptures were saying.

But looking back at where I have come from, I am amazed I had not seen it earlier. I present this information for others to view and to research for themselves. I am not here to tell you this is the way it is, but rather, this is what I have been shown.

You are able to also download a PDF copy of this presentation for those who do not have access to YouTube, here.

For those who read in Dutch, the PDF copy above is available here: Sabbath video in Dutch

May Yahuwah bless you in your personal studies on this topic.

    1. Hi Nicole,

      What country do you live in? Because the calendar of scripture and the gregorian calendar overlap, I generally can’t say specifically. But I can tell you that in most of the world, the new moon was seen upon the evening of Wednesday the 29th of March making new moon day Thursday the 30th of March new moon day.

      If I know what area in the world you live in, I can point you to some of the calendar I have on the web so you might learn how to determine the appointed times.

      Yahuwah Bless.

      1. The lunar sabbath is a non-scripture heresy invented by ignorant people. The moon has no relation to days as it was made to rule the night and the darkness was divided from the day. The Sabbath according to creation is the seventh DAY, not the seventh night, of the week, which was also established at creation. The only thing you are providing is an opinion that misused scripture references with the mistranslated word chodesh.

      2. Davegdev,

        You are sadly mistaken. Go and have a look at what day passover is held upon. What day is unleavened bread held upon? What day is Trumpets held upon? What day is atonement held upon? What day is booths held upon?

        Each if these days are counted from the new moon and the Sabbath is upon one of the same days. Yahuwah tells us specifally that the moon sets the appointed times. Read Psalms 104:19. He created the moon for the appointed times. The sun knows its going down.

        Those who are ignorant are not who you claim. Most of the world follows a man made calendar. There are very few who follow His appointed times.

        Yahuwah Bless.

      3. You are assuming the first day of the month is based on the moon. Chodesh means month whereas yareach means moon. You need to look at the Hebrew words in all of those references you think say moon like Psalm 81:3. So you are gravely mistaken and functioning by the same errant ideology the Jewish Rabbinate have been since they returned from Babylon.

      4. I do not need to assume. The scriptures tells us it is this way. You say yareach means moon. You are correct. So lets read a scripture which uses the word yareach.

        Psalms 104:19
        He created the moon (yereach) for the appointed times. The sun knows its going down.

        The moon is to tell us when His appointed times are. What day was Passover? What day was unleavened bread? These are all told to us by using the moon to count the days with. Now let’s look at another scripture which actually uses yereach and chodesh together and we will see that they are both counted from the same place.

        1 Kings 6:38
        And in the eleventh year, in the moon (yereach) Bul, which is the eighth new moon (chodesh), was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

        The word yereach refers directly to the moon where as the word chodesh, refers to the new moon and the time where the appointed times are counted from. In this very scripture, they are BOTH being counted from the same place.

        Again in 1 Kings 8:2

        And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the moon (yereach) Ethanim, which is the seventh new moon (chodesh).

        The difference is that the word yereach refers to an object alone. There is no phase of the moon provided. The word chodesh refers to a specific phase of the moon when it is new. It is marking where the days are to be counted from.

        You need to do more study.

        Yahuwah bless.

      5. You need to do more studying, because 1 Kings 8:2 is chodesh, not yareach. Moon does not mean month. Moon is the lesser light to rule the night whereas the sun is the greater light that rules the day. Jubilees 2:9 states the sun is made for days, Sabbaths, months, feasts, years, Sabbaths of years, jubilees and seasons of years. Jubilees 6:30-38 warns against using the moon for appointed times as the ones who do this cause the appointed times to be dislodged and cause the year to end 10 days too soon. In other words, it is an act of disobedience to use the moon for months.

      6. Not Yereach? Have another look.

        1 Kings 8:2
        And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the moon (yereach) Ethanim, which is the seventh month (chodesh).

        Indeed. The moon is the lessor light. But one of its purposes is to tell us His appointed times.
        Psalms 104:19. He made the moon FOR the appointed times. The sun knows its going down. ||

        You cannot know the exact time we are at if you remove one of the hands of a clock can you? How can you know His appointed times without using the moon when He tells you specifically that the moon sets them.

        The sun sets the days and a day is part of His appointed times, His Sabbaths, His Months His Feasts and His years. But the moon tells you when they are to commence.

        Jubilees 6 actually disagrees with the rest of scripture. It even disagrees with the rest of the book of Jubilees. Have you ever read the original text of Jubilees? Why not? Have you considered why you would place your trust in something which the only copy you can read is written by man, and you cannot see the original? Why would we say that a year is 364 days long when scripture clearly tells us it was 360 days long? Have you read the book of Daniel and Revelation? Are you aware that at the time of the end, the year shall be 360 days long alone? What then? How will you know what day it is if you do not use the moon to know His appointed times. The same hand you removed from His clock in the sky?

        Isaiah 66:23 tells us that His appointed times shall be restored from one new moon to another new moon and from one Sabbath to another Sabbath.

        You should also be aware that New moon day is a day of rest as well. Do you rest or work?

        Yahuwah bless.

  4. Do you follow Christ in His Sabbaths? Can you pass the Passover test?
    For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’S Passover. 1Co 5:7 & Lev 23:5

    Passover the 14th + 3 days/nites = ‘17th DAY OF THE FIRST MONTH’.
    Now after the Sabbath, toward dawn on the ‘FIRST day of the WEEK’ (18th) Miryam from Maḡdala and the other Miryam came to see the tomb. Mat 28:1

    Q: Was the 17th day of the month a 7th day Sabbath for Christ? Yes! Does it change? No!

    Logical deduction:
    ‘17th’ -7 days = ‘10th’ – 7 days = ‘3rd’ of Aviv (only) are 7th days.

    The record:
    Christ kept the 3rd, 10th and 17th days of the ‘first month’ as Seventh day Sabbaths.
    Read it next day, next week, next month, next year, it will not change!

    Q: Was your 3rd, 10th and 17th days of the ‘first month’ Seventh day Sabbaths on your calendar that you follow? Are you truly following Christ in the days he kept? The answer is sadly no, all have ‘wondered after the beast’. The ‘Qodesh Calendar’ is lost in Zion, but re-established and found in Him and His days which reflect Moses and Joshua’s chronologies also. Shalom, Malachi Yarden, chronologist, researcher, bible mathematics, discover of ‘the qodesh calendar’.

    1. Michael.

      You are taking a prophecy given to the wicked, and applying it in the wrong way. Yahshua was to rise UPON the third day. Not after it. This can be confirmed in that the appointed time of harvest is the 16th day of the first month. He died upon the 14th. He rested the 15th upon the Sabbath, and He became the first fruit upon the 16th.

      Here are witneses in scripture which all testify he rose UPON the third day. Not after it.

      John 2:18-21
      18 So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”
      19 Yahushua answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
      20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?”
      21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

      Matthew 16:21
      From that time Yahushua began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised upon the third day.

      Matthew 17:22-23
      22 As they were gathering in Galilee, Yahushua said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.

      Matthew 20:18-19
      18 “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death 19 and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”

      Mark 9:31
      31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise on the third day.

      Mark 10:34
      34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

      Luke 9:21-22
      21 And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”

      Luke 24:7
      7 The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.

      Luke 24:45-46
      45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Son of Yahuwah should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead.

      Matthew 27:62-66
      62 The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate 63 and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ 64 Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.”

      Here are four witnesses found in scripture which all testify to the same thing.

      Five witnesses of the Third Day.

      The 10th day cannot be the Sabbath. For the 10th day in scripture, we are told was a work day. It was the day they were to go out and collect the lamb. That is not something they could do upon the Sabbath.

      And this article shows from scripture what the day was He rose and what the prophecy of 3 days and 3 nights was speaking of:

      Yahushua our first fruits.

  5. I can do that very easily. But I want you to answer one very simple question. Where did the day count start each month? Did it strt with the international date line OR the new moon.

    Scripture please.

    Because if you cannot show it starting upon the international date line, you are using the wrong calendar. Where did the day count start??

    Yahuwah Bless.

  6. Wrong.

    In Psalms 104:19 Moedim literally means appointed time. You read it in English as Seasons.

    He created the moon for the appointed times. The sun knoweth its going down.

    In that one scripture it tells you how the month was setup so you can tell all of His appointed times. The moon is seen just as the sun goes down and the next day the new month starts.

    The same word “Moedim” is used when describing the seven appointed times of which the first is the Sabbath.

    Leviticus 23:2 says:

    Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, Concerning the appointed times of Yahuwah, which ye shall proclaim to be a holy convocation, even these are my appointed times.

    And it says it again right after speaking of the Sabbath.

    Leviticus 23:4

    These are the appointed times of Yahuwah. Holy convocations which ye shall proclaim at the appointed times.

    You cannot read the Bible and understand a calendar which is never once spoken of in it. That is what the Gregorian calendar is. It ignores His appointed times. It is a solar only calendar. The moon serves no purpose. Yet Yahuwah tells us that it sets His appointed times.

    It is no wonder that the Scriptures only have 144,000 following His appointed times in Revelation. What is the rest of the world doing? Walking after the beast.

    Scripture warns us in Exodus 23:13..right after speaking of the Sabbath, not to mention the names of other gods. Go and have a closer look at the roman calendar and report back what you find.

    With Love.

  7. I have been using http://www.rosettacalendar.com for date conversions. It has Gregorian, Julian and Hebrew calendars. The year I understand for Jesus death and these Feasts was AD33. In using AD33 the Hebrew year is 3793 so 14, 15, 16 Nisan a Fri., Sat. and Sun. correspond to 3, 4, 5 April, this may help. The 15 Nisan was a 7th day Sat. Sabbath for month 1. However going forward for the 2nd and 3rd month the Sabbaths, do not match what you have in the charts, for the Exodus and their journey. I do have a question regarding days within feasts to be kept holy like a Sabbath. Unleavened Bread day 1 and 7 of the 7 days are designated as holy. Would this match the term holy making them Sabbaths? So 15 Nisan 3793 was a Sat and a Sabbath, however it was also day 1 of Unleavened Bread and also holy. In a sense a double Sabbath, if I am correct. In the charts above is the Scripture Calendar of 360 days used. Because in all the date conversion I have used do not include the 360 day year. thank you for all your work in helping others. I just came across your site today 10 May 2022. I am in CA and find I am most at home in worship on the 7th day, in Messianic Congregations, they read in both English and Hebrew. Blessings to all for tender and willing hearts and obedient to be about our Father’s business. Time is short.

    1. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your study journey—I appreciate your dedication to understanding the timeline of Yahuwah’s appointed times!

      The challenges you’re experiencing with date conversions are very common, especially when trying to use the Roman (Gregorian or Julian) calendar to align with the biblical calendar. The Roman calendar operates on a completely different rhythm, and this misalignment often leads to confusion. While tools like the Rosetta Calendar can help for historical context, using these conversions can sometimes create more complexity than clarity.

      Why the Roman Calendar is Limiting
      The biblical calendar is lunar-solar, meaning it follows both the moon’s cycles and the seasonal year, whereas the Roman calendar is purely solar. This difference can affect how we interpret holy days, Sabbaths, and appointed times. For example:

      Biblical Sabbaths: Unlike the fixed weekly Sabbaths on the Roman calendar, the biblical Sabbaths align with lunar cycles and often “float” through the Gregorian weeks.

      In this case, understanding Yahuwah’s calendar independent of the Gregorian structure brings much-needed clarity. The biblical timeline and its cycles reveal a beautiful order that aligns with nature—the phases of the moon, the harvest seasons, and the rhythms of Yahuwah’s appointed times.

      Embracing the Biblical Calendar
      It’s wonderful to hear that you’re worshipping in a Messianic congregation, reading in both English and Hebrew. The Hebrew Scriptures can illuminate so much about Yahuwah’s timing and purpose, helping us break away from Roman-based assumptions. Studying in this way opens us up to understanding time as Yahuwah intended.

      So, as you continue, I encourage you to trust the biblical calendar’s rhythm rather than reconciling it with the Roman system. This shift can provide clarity and deepen your connection to the appointed times, helping you step into a more aligned understanding.

      Thank you again for your thoughtful question. May Yahuwah continue to guide and bless you as you seek His ways!

      Blessings to you!

  9. How do you explain Leviticus 23:7-8 holy convocations being the first and seven day of eleven bread how can that be if the Sabbath is 8 15 22 29?

    Like

    1. Great question — and it’s one that really highlights the importance of letting the Scriptures interpret themselves, especially when it comes to timing.

      Leviticus 23:6–8 says that the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on the 15th day of the first month, and lasts for seven days. It also says:

      “On the first day you shall have a holy convocation… the seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.”

      Now, many people assume that “the seventh day” means the 21st, but that’s a misunderstanding.

      If the feast starts on the 15th, and Scripture says to count seven days from there, then:

      15th = Day 1 of the feast

      16th = Day 2

      17th = Day 3

      18th = Day 4

      19th = Day 5

      20th = Day 6

      21st = Day 7

      BUT — here’s the key: the 15th is a Sabbath in the Scriptural calendar — it’s the weekly Sabbath. That means the seven days following that Sabbath bring you to the 22nd. So when Leviticus 23:8 says the “seventh day” is a holy convocation, it is speaking of the seventh day from the Sabbath — which is the 22nd, and it just so happens to also be the next weekly Sabbath.

      This is confirmed in Exodus 16, which gives a clear pattern:

      On the 15th, the children of Israel arrived in the wilderness (that day was a Sabbath).

      Manna started falling on the 16th, and they gathered it for six days.

      On the 21st, they gathered a double portion.
      The 22nd was a Sabbath, and no manna fell.

      So both Leviticus 23 and Exodus 16 align perfectly:

      The Feast begins on a Sabbath (15th)

      It lasts for seven days, ending on the 21st

      Then, the 22nd, which is seven days from the starting Sabbath, is another Sabbath, and is the day referred to in Leviticus 23:8 as the “seventh day” holy convocation.

      So the pattern of weekly Sabbaths on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th remains perfectly intact — and is actually confirmed by these appointed times.
