This article focuses upon timekeeping. In particular, it focuses upon the Book of Daniel and the issue of the calendar.
The luni-solar calendar and the gregorian calendar for AD31 side by side.
Many are seemingly unaware that the calendar spoken about in scripture is not the calendar we use today. The calendar of scripture uses the sun, the moon and the stars which is why when one looks to see when the feasts days are each year, they appear to move upon the gregorian calendar.
This also causes problems for those who are trying to keep the Sabbath of the seventh day, as the scriptural calendar has a period of time known as New Moon day embedded within it which is not a work day nor a weekly Sabbath day.
This article’s focus is not upon the Sabbath day directly however. It focuses upon what scripture tells us about these two calendars and the problems which shall rise from them in the near future.
The correct translation?
The Book of Daniel contains scriptural evidence that the calendar has been changed. The following translations have been taken from the original language and converted to English using the Strongs concordance. Of note are two words (continual and daily) which have been misinterpreted. Here the original meaning of the words is shown in context:
Psalm 72:15 says:
And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.

Above, the words “tamiyd” and “yowm” have been translated correctly as
“continually” and “daily”.
Below, the meaning is shown:
Tamiyd
When looking in Daniel however, you will find the word “daily” has replaced the word “continual”. This has occurred in the following scriptures:
Daniel 8:11, 12 ,13
Daniel 11:31
Daniel 12:11
Other issues….
When reading Daniel 8:10 you will find the word “hosts” (tsaba) is used. The context however has been ignored. Daniel 8:10 is speaking of heaven and the stars. e.g.
Whilst the word “hosts”(tsaba) used here is correct, it misses the correct meaning for those of us who read and speak English only. In English the word hosts means: a person, place, or organization that holds an event to which others are invited. But this is not what the meaning of the word hosts is here.
To provide its correct meaning in English we need to view the words surrounding it, which are: heaven and stars. Seeing this the phrase “sun, moon and stars” (shown below) is the most appropriate translation. It is not a replacement of the word. It is simply providing the context to us in English.
In other sections of scripture the context (that is its meaning) of “hosts” is also seen clearly:
Isaiah 34:4
All the host (sun moon and stars) of heaven will be dissolved,
And the skies will be rolled up like a scroll;
All their hosts [the sun moon and stars] will also wither away
As a leaf withers from the vine,
And as a fig withers from the fig tree.
2 Kings 17:16
They abandoned all the commandments of the Yahuwah thy Elohim and made for themselves cast images of two calves; and they made an Asherah [idol] and worshiped all the [sun, moon and stars] host of heaven and served Baal.
2 Kings 21:3
For he rebuilt the high places [for the worship of pagan gods] which his father Hezekiah had destroyed; and he set up altars for Baal and made an [image of] Asherah, just as Ahab king of Israel had done, and he worshiped all the [sun, moon and stars] host of heaven and served them.
2 Kings 23:4-5
4 Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest and the priests of the second rank and the doorkeepers to bring out of the temple of Yahuwah all the articles made for Baal, for [the goddess] Asherah, and for all the [sun, moon and stars] host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel [where Israel’s idolatry began].
5 He got rid of the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense [to pagan gods] in the high places in Judah’s cities and all around Jerusalem—also those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations [of the zodiac], and to all the [sun, moon and stars] host of heaven.
2 Chronicles 33:3
For he rebuilt the [idolatrous] high places which his father Hezekiah had torn down; and he set up altars for the Baals and made the Asherim, and worshiped all the host of heaven [the sun, the moon, stars and planets] and served them.
Jeremiah 33:22
As the host of [the stars of] heaven cannot be counted and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’”
Yahuwah also tells us clearly, that we should not use the sun and moon or any of the stars as idols, that is, something in which we worship as this was not what He provided them for.
Deut 17:2-3
2 “If there is discovered among you, within any of your cities, which the Yahuwah your Elohim is giving you, a man or a woman who does evil in the sight of Yahuwah your Elohim, by transgressing (violating) His covenant, 3 and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the heavenly host (stars), which I have commanded not to do, 4 and if it is told to you and you hear about it, then you shall investigate thoroughly [all the charges].
He tells us He gave the sun moon and stars for us to tell His appointed times. It’s like using a clock upon a wall. One person uses it for time (here is is used to tell His appointed times), whilst another person decides it is an object which should be worshipped, as if the object rules over them.
It is like Astronomy and Astrology. Like Astronomy, scripture teaches us to look at the stars to see His appointed times – like the hands of a clock. Unlike Astrology, it does not tell us to use them to worship – like the days of the week being named after the gods (Saturns day, Suns day, Moons day etc…)
Genesis 1:14
14 Then Yahuwah said, “Let there be light-bearers (sun, moon, stars) in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be useful for signs, and for marking appointed times, and for days, and for years;
Yahuwah provides us with the sun, the moon and the stars, for us to be able to read His clock. That clock tells us when His appointed times are. It is also to be used for seeing signs. A sign is something one sees before an event takes place.
Today the Gregorian calendar uses the names of the planets to worship upon and whilst many would say that “we are not worshipping upon the name, but rather the day” the issue is that they are using a calendar which does use the day names to determine His appointed times. When we read scripture we never see Sund_y or Saturd_y or any other name listed except when He tells us of the gods which were being worshiped instead of Him.
Did Yahshua speak of this?
In Matthew and in Mark we see Yahshua refer directly to Daniel telling us of this occurrence:
Matthew 24:15-16
15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation [the appalling sacrilege that astonishes and makes desolate], spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains [for refuge].Mark 13:14-15
14 “But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not to be (let the reader understand) then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 15 Whoever is on the housetop must not go down [to enter the house], or go inside to take anything out of his house;
These scriptures speak of the start of the time of trouble (view Matthew 24:21). I understand this to be the appointed time when Yahuwah’s calendar is restored. (For more information on the sign we see in scripture which starts this time click here)
So why then is there an abomination? We see in His word what occurred when He had His calendar here in Hosea 2 and Lamentations 2. In these two books we see the people abusing His appointed times. So Yahuwah removed them. Yahuwah calls this practice …. an abomination.
Hosea 9:10
10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness [an unexpected and refreshing delight];
I saw your fathers (ancestors) as the first ripe fruit on the fig tree in its first season,
But they came to Baal-peor and consecrated themselves to shamefulness [the worship of Baal],
And [because of their spiritual and physical adultery] they became as an abomination like the thing they loved.
So what does Daniel say about the abomination that causes desolation?
The scriptures which refer to the abomination which causes desolation are found in the following scriptures:
Daniel 8:11-13
Daniel 9:27
Daniel 11:30-31
Daniel 12:11
Each of these scriptures is listed below in bold. If you have studied the scriptures with respect to the calendar it will be a blessing for you. If you are still using the Gregorian calendar to find His appointed times, this video would be worth while watching. After reading these scriptures, you may wish to see if these things are true (and I would pray you do). To make it easier I have linked each word to the Strongs concordance beneath these three sections of scripture, so you can verify the translation.
1 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto Yahuwah, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Daniel 8:9-14
9 And from one of them came forth a little horn which became superior and very great toward the south and toward the sunrise and toward the glorious (land).
10 And it (the little horn) became great (against) the sun, moon and stars in the visible sky and causes them to waste away such that they become inferior , the sun, moon and the sparkling stars to the surface of the earth and trampled upon them (thus destroying the knowledge of their function).
11 And making himself of importance against the Ruler of rulers of the sun moon and stars, the continuously without interruption (cycle of weeks) was lifted up, exalted and magnified and fixed in place and the holy place was cast down.
12 And the Sun Moon and the stars were delivered up and given to the continuously without interruption as a transgression against Yahuwah which cast away the truth to the ground which bought about prosperity and success (for the little horn).
13 Then I heard a certain Holy One speaking to another Holy One who said to that certain one which spoke “(Until when) the vision of the continuously (without interruption) transgression which stuns, stupefies and makes desolate will be permitted to be set apart (from Yahuwah) such that the Sun, moon and stars are trodden upon?
14 And he said unto two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then the separation of Yahuwah will be justified and made righteous.
Daniel 9:24-27
24 Seventy periods of seven are to be marked out upon the people and the holy city to restrain the punishment of transgressions, to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal the vision of the prophet and to anoint the most holy place of Yahuwah.
25 Be wise with knowledge and have insight and go forth with these words to turn back and rebuild Yahrushalom for the anointed one who is the ruler. Seven periods of seven and sixty two periods of seven, the open places shall be rebuilt and bought back with moats and there shall be distressing occurrences.
26 After sixty two periods of seven the anointed one , the messiah shall be removed by His countrymen and a ruler shall be bought in who shall corrupt the city and those set apart to be holy and until the end of this battle the people will be stunned, stupefied and be desolate as it has been decreed.
27 And the powerful one will confirm His covenant with many for one period of seven and half way through the period of seven the sacrifices of the passover shall no longer be observed and the extremity of the detestable things shall cause those to be stunned, stupefied and desolate until complete destruction is decreed and has been poured upon those who have been stunned, stupefied and are desolate.
Daniel 11:28-36
28 Then he shall return to his land with great possessions and his heart and soul shall be against the set apart and holy agreement between Yahuwah and man and he shall return to his own land.
29 At the appointed time he shall return and come in towards the south but it shall not be as the former or the like the last time.
30 For the ships of the islanders of the Mediterranean Sea shall come but be fearful and turn back and shall denounce the holy covenant between Yahuwah and man which is to be observed and shall turn away from Yahuwah and shall teach others to forsake the holy covenant between Yahuwah and man.
31 And political and military forces shall stand to profane the holy place which is a refuge of Yahuwah shall be taken away and the continual (calendar of weeks) shall be set up as a detestable thing as an idol which will stun and stupefy and make desolate.
32 And those who act wickedly against the covenant between Yahuwah and Man and profane, pollute and corrupt, by using flatteries; But throughout the nations those who do know their Elohim will prevail and observe Him.
33 And those who understand among the nations shall teach others, many in number and they will stumble by the sword and by weapons by captivity and be held as a spoil for a period of time.
34 Now when they stumble they will be helped with little assistance and many shall be joined to them by slippery promises.
35 But those who act wisely shall stumble and be tested to be refined to purify to make them ethically white until the time of the end at the appointed time.
36 And the king shall do as he desires and shall rise up and magnify himself to be like Yahuwah and he shall declare marvellous things against the Yahuwah of gods and he shall prosper until the indignation is ended which has been determined to be done.
Daniel 12:1-12
1 At that time Micheal shall stand forth the distinguished ruler who stands for the children of His People and there shall come to pass a time of distress upon the people for a time and at that time the people of Yahuwah shall escape, those who are found written in the book of Yahuwah.
2 Many who are sleeping in the dust of the ground shall awaken to everlasting life or to disgrace and everlasting damnation.
3 And those who have insight shall send out light , shining across the firmament and they shall turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 Daniel, shut up and keep closed these words. Seal this written book to the time of the end. Many will run back and forth and wisdom and understanding shall become great.
5 Daniel looked, and there stood one, other two. One here on this shore of the river, one on the other shore of the river.
6 And one spoke to the man clothed in white linen who was above the waters of the river. What is the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in white linen who was above the waters of the river, as he raised up his right hand and his left hand to the visible heavens and swear by him that liveth forever that it shall be appointed for a time, times, and a half. Completion shall shatter the hand of the set apart peoples to accomplish and end.
8 And I heard and did not understand. So I asked, O Yahuwah, what is the end of this prophetic time?
9 And he said. “Depart Daniel, for these words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified white and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly and the wicked shall not understand, but the wise shall understand.
11 And the time that the continual (calendar of weeks) shall come to and end, that detestable thing which stuns, stupefies and makes desolate which is delivered up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed are they who wait to reach the one thousandth three hundredth and five and thirty day .
There is only a single calendar He uses in the scriptures and it is not the gregorian calendar we use today. The following image overlays both the scriptural calendar and the gregorian calendar in the year 31AD – The year most see as Yahushua’s sacrifice.
The Sabbath in the image below fell upon the gregorian thursday. If they were using the gregorian calendar at the time of Yahshua’s death, then it poses a serious problem for anyone who uses friday – sunday as their weekly Sabbath as scripture tells us the Sabbath fell upon the 15th day (Which is the gregorian date of the 26th below).
Yahshua, our first fruits was raised upon the day of first fruits, the 16th (which is the greogiran dayte of the 27th below)

A calendar “fraud” is a big issue for anyone to tackle especially when one has grown up using it. Initially one will want to reject the information as false, but I would ask before you decide this, take a look at this video.
It covers the calendar as presented in the scriptures and is around 45 minutes long. If you do not have that amount of time free, you may like to view the shorter version here which presents fewer witnesses.
Below you will find this translation with each of the original words being translated, linked back to their original meaning in the Strongs concordance. This way you shall be able to verify the translation. Below, Daniel 12 has had the links embedded in to words to make it easier to check.

Hello and thank you for your time and effort in preparing and sharing this information. I have been consumed by the study of His calendar the last couple of years. It has been frustrating at times but has been the most wonderful in depth journey thru the scriptures and I am so thankful for it. I have remained open to new ideas and I see great truth in what you have shared and also a comment made by a John Morris on another post which is a slight variation on your reckoning. Wondering if you are able to pls share the longer video link of calendar as mentioned above a the link no longer works.
Ps I’m also on the east coast of Aust…Gold Coast. Wondering if you are close by?
Thank you truly again.

Hi Rob
Thanks for the quick response.
I used to live in Brisbane. My Dad was an AOG pastor in the 70s and 80s and I did do a couple of years at the COC/citipointe college for a degree in education. Aside from that tho I have worked in the IT&T industry for the last 30 yrs.
I started reading my bible and as a result left the Baptist church down here that I was attending. Another couple left also a few years ago and we have been studying together trying to unlearn all the teachings of the church and just to seek and be obedient to the Fathers truth as He reveals it to us. He has been very patient with us and so faithful. For me calendar has still not been decided. I decided to stay on sat Sabbath even tho I know sat to be incorrect. I did not want to keep jumping to different calendars until I felt fully committed in mind heart and spirit as I researched all calendars out. I am working my way thru your posts. They have answered 2 questions I have not been able to answer this far re calendar in my research so I am very thankful for these insights you have shared.
Do you have people / group that you celebrate the festivals with etc? We did Sukkot and Passover this year but on the wrong date so I wasn’t special unfortunately. I am filled with hope to be able to celebrate it on His set apart days in the very near future and in His perfect timing. Happy also for any links to other videos etc that you would like to recommend. I have watched literally hundreds online re calendar but always as mentioned open to further teachings/ revelation.
Ps I particularly enjoyed your study on Daniel.

Hi Sonia,
Thank you for sharing a bit about your journey—what an inspiring path of seeking and learning! It sounds like you’re digging deep into scripture with a sincere heart, which is both challenging and rewarding. The patience and faithfulness of the Father truly shine through as we explore His truth, and it’s incredible to hear how much you’re gaining from it.
I completely understand your approach to observing Sabbath on Saturday while researching the calendar. Waiting until you’re fully settled in mind, heart, and spirit is wise, especially since there are so many perspectives to consider. The calendar can be a challenging area, and we know Yahuwah is guiding us step-by-step as we seek His set-apart days. I’m really glad to hear that some of my posts have offered insights—this is exactly why I share them, and it’s wonderful to see them making an impact.
At this point, I do often celebrate these festivals alone as well, but like you, I trust that Yahuwah will bring the right people together in His timing. I’d love to hear more about your Sukkot and Passover experiences. Even if it didn’t feel perfect, it’s still a step in the right direction as you seek His ways, and I believe He honuors that desire in our hearts.
I’m based here in Australia, Brisbane! Where do you live these days??
Take care, Sonia, and feel free to reach out with any questions. Glad to be part of your journey!
(P.s. I used to work with a Sonia Kruger. She was a teacher)
Shalom, Robert

I has some thoughts and questions:
I understand the calendar you are presenting and it makes total sense. So ‘Saturday’ is not the Sabbath, and nor is ‘Sunday’.
But has this calendar been restored yet? Or is the restoration what we are ‘watching’ for? “Watch”. “Look up for your redemption draws near”.
Paul says in Galatians 4 which he writes “in mine own hand” – 9But now that you know God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you are turning back to those weak and worthless principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? 10You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! 11I fear for you, that my efforts for you may have been in vain.…
Surely this is a warning to us – we are complete “in Christ”?
Is it not the case that we are sanctified by “His Righteousness” and are complete by our faith in the Son of God? Not by going about to establish our own righteousness, observing the moon etc – which can only really be done by ‘the power of the air’ e.g. by using a man made website like timeanddate.com. And needs two witnesses, which most of us who are studying on our own do not have?
So whilst the calendar may be restored it has not yet been restored? Maybe it is right to “look up” for a possible restoration, but this has not come?
If you look at Hebrews 4 we have:
9 There remaineth therefore a rest [ a “keeping of the Sabbath” ] to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
If we are labouring to enter into that rest, it suggests that rest is not yet available to us? Are we not to enter into it by faith and faith alone, not by ‘building the tower of babel’ or standing on another foundation other than the Messiah?
Paul does seem to be the Messiah – in so far as he is the one who gives us the knowledge by which we are justified: “He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. “
Paul gives this knowledge through Romans, through Hebrews etc. He also says “and my trial which was in my flesh ye despised not” – is he not here referring to the crucifixion? Paul says “in deaths oft” – he has lived and died many times. In John, the Messiah says “I will come to you.”
We know that “five changes of raiment” were given to Benjamin. Paul is Saul (first King Saul?, the first anointed one).
We could surmise from the OT that the Rock must be struck three times – because Moses was supposed to speak to the rock – but he struck it twice (having already struck it once before). Where is the fulfilment of this? We know also that Paul was ‘offered’.
I don’t know for sure, and am seeking like you. But do we go about to establish our own righteousness or do we accept the righteousness of God – the gift of his Salvation – his Son?
I am interested in your thoughts on the above. I am interested on your thoughts on this.
The bible is all about ‘Righteous Judgment’ (see Jer 9:24).
David slept with Bathsheba and killed Uriah ‘at the front’. Kill by the sword, die by the sword. When was David killed at the front? In another life – as Josiah?
We see this theme in the temple gold –
2 Ki 18:16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
But when did Hezekiah overlay the doors of the temple with gold? He didn’t. Solomon did.
1 Ki 6:32 The two doors also olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and seraphims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.
I posit that Hezekiah is Solomon.
The ‘law of righteousness’ demonstrated in David (given as a witness to and commander of the people) is perhaps that what you do in one life you will pay for in another? Christ breaks that cycle. He is the end of the law of righteousness to them that believe. We are sanctified by belief in him alone, and our sins are forgiven. We perish at the cross with him, and the life we now lead, we live by faith in him.
I don’t have the answers, I am seeking like you to understand scripture, but as you are clearly seeking too, I am interested in your thoughts on the above? Thank you

You’re right to see that the calendar given at Creation (Gen 1:14–16) was re-introduced at the Exodus (Ex 12:2) and that its structure—months of 30 days, years of 360 days, each month beginning with the New Moon, and weeks counted within the month—flows directly from those verses. Scripture never speaks of an “imaginary” International Date Line or of a separate solar week; the sun, moon and stars together mark days, months and years in a single, unified calendar.(https://calendarofscripture.com/2015/06/12/william-miller-22-october-1844-the-luni-solar-calendar/)
That original calendar was taken away when Israel turned to other “lovers” (Isa 1:13–14; Hos 2:11–13; Lam 2:6), and God responded by literally lengthening the solar day—adding about 20 minutes per day—so that the lunar cycle shrank from 30 days to about 29½, producing our 365 day year. This divine “slow-down” is typified in Hezekiah’s sign when the sun’s shadow went backward (2 Kgs 20), and it accounts for how the appointed times were hidden from most of Israel until the Exodus restoration. (https://calendarofscripture.com/2017/11/25/the-calendar-of-scripture/)
Isaiah’s promise to “repair the breach” and “restore ancient foundations” (Isa 58:12) speaks of a future, full restoration of that scriptural calendar—when the faithful remnant once more observe the New Moons, Sabbaths and Feasts blamelessly (Rev 14:1–5). In that sense, we “watch … and look up,” waiting for the day when every believer keeps the calendar as originally designed, free of human tampering. https://calendarofscripture.com/2016/07/09/354-vs-360-vs-365-day-calendar-musings/comment-page-1/
.
At the same time, Paul’s warning in Galatians 4:9–11 against enslavement to “special days and months and seasons and years” reminds us that our righteousness is not in calendar-keeping but in Christ alone. Hebrews 4:9–11 calls us into God’s “rest,” not by our works or by rebuilding Babel-like systems, but by ceasing from our own efforts and entering by faith the rest Jesus secured for us on the cross. The calendar points us to God’s order and final restoration—but our present rest and sanctification come solely through faith in the Son of God.
I feel that those who learn his calendar now and apply it will be in alignment at the time of trumpets – the stat of the tribulation – and will be those who keep the commandments of God (Revelation 14:12)

Hi Erica,
The feasts which have been fulfilled are Passove, First fruits and Unleavened bread. Many think that Pentecost has been fulfilled, however I strongly disagree with this. It comes threough a misunderstanding. There are two harvests in scripture. The Barely and the wheat. The barley harvest has been completed. The wheat hearvest still has to come. This is the second coming and it just so happens to the day after the 1335 day after the time of trumpets.
Regarding the items in the temple… I probably need more study here to be honest. I understand many of them and probably should write about it. Keep an eye out.

Thank you – I assume the crucifixion is the Passover – is that right? Although this is something that puzzles me – because in the Gospel of John, Christ was killed between the evenings on Passover, the day before a Sabbath, but in the other gospels he ate the Passover and was killed on Unleavened Bread which would have been a Sabbath. I have never really understood this (how can he both be the eater and the passover? – makes little sense to me). What is the fulfilment of the first and last days of unleavened bread? Or of all the days of unleavened bread? And when was firstfruits fulfilled?

Thank you for your thoughtful comment and your desire to seek clarity in the Scriptures.
You’re absolutely right to identify the challenge that comes from reading the Gospels and trying to reconcile the timeline of Yahshua’s crucifixion with the Passover. The key, I believe, lies in two things:
Understanding that Yahshua was our Passover lamb, and therefore could not be both the eater and the sacrifice of the lamb.
Returning to the original scriptural calendar, where Abib 14 is Passover, Abib 15 is the High Sabbath, and Abib 16 is First Fruits — the day when the wave offering of the first ripe barley was brought before YHWH (Leviticus 23:10–11), and the day when Yahshua rose from the dead.
Let’s explore that more closely.
Yahshua Did Not Eat the Passover Lamb
Though some of the Gospels speak of the disciples preparing the Passover, we must note that nowhere is Yahshua actually described as eating the lamb. In fact, He said:
“I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, but I say to you, I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of Elohim.”
— Luke 22:15-16
At the Last Supper, there is bread and wine, and foot washing — symbols of His body, blood, and cleansing — but no mention of lamb, which would have been central in a traditional Passover meal. Why? Because He Himself was the lamb, to be offered up the following afternoon — on Abib 14, between the evenings, just as the Torah commands in Exodus 12:6.
The True Calendar Sequence
The confusion often arises from relying on man-made systems or blending Gospel narratives without context. But if we stick to the original calendar revealed in Scripture, the pattern becomes clear:
Abib 14 (Passover Day) — Yahshua is crucified as the Passover lamb (Exodus 12:6; John 19:14).
Abib 15 (Sabbath / First Day of Unleavened Bread) — A High Sabbath, Yahshua rests in the tomb (Leviticus 23:6–7).
Abib 16 (First Fruits) — Yahshua rises, becoming the firstfruits of those who sleep (Leviticus 23:10–11; 1 Corinthians 15:20). This is also when many who had died appeared in the city (Matthew 27:52–53), the wave offering of resurrection.
This pattern fulfills YHWH’s appointed times (mo’edim) perfectly. Yahshua did not die on a random day, but precisely on Passover, Abib 14 — so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
The Trial Before Pilate and the Passover
You asked whether Matthew, Mark, or Luke mention Passover during Yahshua’s trial before Pilate. They do not. However, the Gospel of John does, and it gives us a key piece of information:
“Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.”
— John 18:28
This verse is undeniable proof that the Passover meal had not yet taken place. It was still coming that evening. The Jewish leaders’ actions confirm that Yahshua was being judged before the Passover, not after it — which places His crucifixion on Abib 14, the day the lambs were to be slain. He died at the appointed hour.
Final Thoughts
The Last Supper was not a Passover lamb meal — it was a covenant meal, preparing the disciples for what was to come. Yahshua drank the wine (His blood), broke the bread (His body), and washed their feet (cleansing them), showing the spiritual essence of the new covenant. The actual lamb meal was eaten the following night, when Yahshua was placed in the tomb.
Understanding this through the lens of the biblical calendar removes all confusion. Yahshua fulfilled the Passover (Abib 14), rested through the Sabbath (Abib 15), and rose as the First Fruits (Abib 16).
Let us return to the rhythm of the calendar of Scripture — for in it we see the perfect timing and work of YHWH.

Thank you for this – I hadn’t thought of those who rose from the dead as the wave offering, I had thought of Yahusha as the wave offering, so this is a new idea to me. When was the last day of Unleavened bread fulfilled – Lev 23:8 (21 Abib) – if indeed it has been fulfilled? What does it represent?
Also do you think the Sabbath runs evening to evening or dawn to dusk or dawn to dawn? Does the day start at dawn or dusk?

Thank you again for the thoughtful response and for raising such meaningful questions. I really appreciate the heart behind what you wrote.
Let me begin with the first part of your question:
Was Yahusha Himself the wave offering, or were the saints who rose in Matthew 27 also part of that picture?
I would say both are true in a layered way. Yahusha is clearly called the “firstfruits of those who sleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20), and that is a direct fulfillment of the Feast of First Fruits, which falls on Abib 16, the day after the Sabbath that follows Passover. But we also see in Matthew 27:52-53 that “many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised… and appeared to many.” These individuals rising with Him serve as a wave offering of resurrection — an acknowledgment that the harvest had begun.
First fruits is represented by Yahshua first, then the saints. He is always first and he should be because of what He has done for us. It was a reflected in how the very first fruits were to be given to Elohim in the temple, then we could eat of them, not the other way around.
So I would say: Yahusha is the first sheaf, and those who rose with Him are part of the first harvest, waved before the Father. He leads the way, and they confirm the start of something greater to come — just as the wave offering was a declaration that more harvest was on the way.
What about the last day of Unleavened Bread — Abib 21? Has it been fulfilled, and what does it represent?
That’s a wonderful question. The Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on Abib 15 and ends on Abib 21. The first and last days are Sabbaths but perhaops not in the order you presumed. The feast starts ion the 15th, which is a Sabbath then 6 work days which brings us to the end of the feast on Abib 21. Then the Sabbath is the 22nd. It took me a while to see this as well, but with his Seventh day Sabbath, it must fall on the 22nd.
While the first day represents Yahusha’s rest in the tomb — sinless and unleavened — the seventh day may symbolize the completion of the redemptive work, the removal of sin, and the full deliverance of the people. Personally, I suspect that some of this may still need fulfillment in heaven in the future.
On the Question of When a Day Begins
You also raised the important topic of when a biblical day begins — whether at sunset, midnight, or dawn. This is an area where tradition has long clouded what scripture plainly shows.
When Does a Day Begin?
and
These both explore the idea that a biblical day begins at dawn, not at sunset.
Genesis 1 tells us that Elohim first created light, and only after light was established did He separate light from darkness and define “day” and “night.” He called the light “day,” and that is when His creative work was done. We repeatedly see the phrase, “and there was evening and there was morning,” not to define when a day starts, but to mark its completion. The evening and morning are transitions — boundary markers — not the start of something new.
Even Yahusha’s own words confirm this pattern:
“Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.”
— John 11:9
He links the day to the light — just as Genesis does.
When we follow this pattern through the Torah, the Prophets, and even the Gospels, we find consistent testimony that a day begins at first light — not in the darkness, and not at midnight.
Of particular importance is the day of atonement. For the Day of atonement can only be achieved if the day starts in the morning. If you start the day in the evening, you will actually miss the day of atonement.
The day of atonement actually is spread over two days, but starts on the ninth day at even and finished on the tenth day at even. To see this, go tho this article: https://calendarofscripture.com/2015/05/30/when-does-a-day-begin/ and browse down to the part entitled “What about from even unto even?”. That very event can only be achieved when the day starts at first light.
Bless you for asking these questions and seeking the truth. Let us continue to test all things, hold fast to what is good, and walk in the light as He is in the light.
In Messiah Yahusha,

One more thing, this explanation of the gospel is the best I have found:
Understanding the Gospel (Part 1 of 9)
It is by an adventist and he elsewhere concludes we should keep the Saturday sabbath – so I don’t agree on that. But on the righteousness of God, he writes very well I think. It was very helpful to me. For sure we will perhaps get caught out if we don’t know that the Gregorian calendar is of the Beast system, possibly with the ‘seven heads’ of the Beast. So the work you have done is excellent, and I thank you for it enormously. The question is are we supposed to use your understanding to keep the ‘true’ Sabbath and all the feasts (and not be caught out on the fake sabbath), or do we wait on the LORD’s redemption? This is my question.
Sequeira also writes well on Galatians:

These are just thoughts I have, and I am interested in your reply, thank you.

You’ve touched on the heart of the tension here: the deep appeal of restoring God’s “ancient foundations” (Isa 58:12) – including His calendar – versus the absolute sufficiency of Christ’s finished work. Here’s how I see it, drawing on what we’ve learnt.
The Original 360-Day Calendar Was Hidden
Scripture shows that before the Flood and through Noah’s time, months were 30 days long (150 days between the 2nd and 7th months = 5×30) and years counted 360 days (12 × 30) https://calendarofscripture.com/2016/07/09/354-vs-360-vs-365-day-calendar-musings/
. Daniel’s “time, times, and half a time” (3½ years = 42 months = 1 260 days) and Revelation’s parallel prophecies use that 360-day reckoning
The Calendar of Scripture
.
God “Dented” His Clock
Around 700 BC Yahuwah lengthened the solar day (Hezekiah’s sundial moving backward ten steps, 2 Kgs 20:9–10), causing the lunar cycle to slip to ~29½ days (354 days/year) and the solar year to expand to ~365 days. In effect, the true 360-day calendar was concealed
A Future, Full Restoration Awaits
Isaiah 58:12’s promise to “raise up the age-old foundations” includes the calendar. Daniel 12:4 says the book remains sealed until the time of the end. At that great unveiling, every New Moon, Sabbath and Feast will be honored exactly as at Creation and Sinai
The Present Remnant Keeps His Commandments
Revelation 12:6,14-17 describes a people who keep the commandments (including the Sabbath) and bear the testimony of Jesus – fed for 1 260 days by God’s appointed times even amid tribulation
But Our Righteousness Is in Christ Alone
Paul warns that Sabbaths, new moons and festivals are “shadows of things to come,” with Christ as the substance – we are not justified by observing days (Col 2:16-17)
Hebrews 4:9–11 calls us into God’s rest not by our works (including perfect calendar-keeping) but by ceasing from our own labours and trusting in His work.
What, then, should we do today?
• Learn and Practice Now, by Faith
There is wisdom in acquainting yourself with the “true” Sabbath and Feasts as an act of worship and preparation. Doing so aligns you with God’s rhythm and readies you for the time of testing.
• Rest in Christ, Not in a Calendar
Even as you observe, remember that your standing before the Father is secured by faith alone in the Son’s atoning work, not by whether you’ve kept Week 7 or Month 7 perfectly.
• Watch and Wait
We “look up” in eager expectation of the Lord’s redemption and the unveiling of His full calendar. Until that day, we walk by faith, observing His appointed times as a foretaste of the rest to come, but trusting wholly in “Christ our Sabbath.”

Finally
6So when they came together, they asked Him, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 Yahusha replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”…
We know for sure cannot restore the kingdom to Israel – the Father can, and by Him ‘the times and the seasons’ are restored. Should we go about to restore them by our own observations and by websites of sunsets and moons? This is a question. I don’t know the answer, I am seeking dialogue with other believers so that I may find the answer.

Thank you again for your honest and sincere question — it’s refreshing to see a heart genuinely seeking understanding, not to win an argument but to walk in truth.
You brought up Acts 1:6–8, and it’s a powerful and often-misunderstood passage:
“So when they came together, they asked Him, ‘Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?’
He replied, ‘It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses…’”
Some read this to mean we should not concern ourselves with the times and seasons at all — even those laid out in the Torah. But I would gently suggest that this is not what Yahusha was saying.
He wasn’t telling them to stop observing the appointed times (mo’edim). He was telling them that they would not know the moment of their fulfillment — the exact time the kingdom would be restored. There’s an important difference.
Yahusha Himself kept the appointed times — Passover, Unleavened Bread, Shavuot (Pentecost), and so on. And as followers of Him, we are likewise called to walk as He walked. The Torah tells us plainly:
“These are the appointed times of YHWH, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.”
— Leviticus 23:4
These were not “Jewish feasts.” They are YHWH’s feasts, and they are prophetic. Yahusha fulfilled the spring feasts in exact detail — Passover as the Lamb, Unleavened Bread in the grave, First Fruits in His resurrection, and Shavuot with the giving of the Spirit. The fall feasts remain to be fulfilled — and no one knows the exact day or hour when that will happen. But that doesn’t mean we stop keeping watch.
In fact, Yahusha told a parable about this very idea — the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25). They all knew the bridegroom was coming. They were all waiting, but only five were wise, because they were prepared. They had oil in their lamps. They were watching and ready, even though they didn’t know the precise time of His coming.
So too with us — we may not know when the full restoration will happen, but we are to be found faithful in observing what He has told us to do. The moedim are rehearsals — dress rehearsals for what is to come. And just as the first rehearsals were fulfilled exactly, we can trust that the fall feasts will be fulfilled in their time.
As for using websites and astronomical tools to observe the sun, moon, and stars — I believe we are simply doing what Scripture tells us:
“Let them be for signs and for appointed times, and for days and years.”
— Genesis 1:14
We’re not setting dates. We’re not trying to force prophecy. We are simply trying to stay in rhythm with the calendar of creation — the same one Yahusha followed, so that we, too, might walk as He walked.
And lastly, Revelation 12 gives us a powerful picture of those who endure to the end:
“Here is the patience of the saints: those who keep the commandments of Elohim and have the faith of Yahusha.”
— Revelation 14:12
So no — I don’t believe Acts 1:7 tells us to abandon the calendar or stop observing the moedim. It simply reminds us that the ultimate fulfillment of those times — the day and hour when the kingdom is restored — is in the Father’s hands.
But just like the wise virgins, we should be watching, preparing, and walking in obedience while we wait.
Blessings in Messiah,
Robert Richmond
